Bug#406061: X: user not authorized to run the X server, aborting

2007-04-16 Thread Olaf Zaplinski

Hi,

Olaf, you got no /etc/X11/Xwrapper.config at all after upgrading
x11-common? Or an empty one?

I do not remember, this is more than 3 months ago...

Do you remember seeing any error in the

postinst script output?

I got several errors AFAIK which seems to be normal for a dist-upgrade. But
I cannot tell if one was from x11-common, sorry!

Did you guys have space available on your hard drive?

Plenty.

Bug#385572: xhost not working

2006-09-01 Thread Olaf Zaplinski

Package: xbase-clients
Version: 6.9.0.dfsg.1-5bpo2

As some ordinary user I say:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ xhost localhost
localhost being added to access control list

But it does not work:

ridcully:~# xterm -display :0
Xlib: connection to :0.0 refused by server

ridcully:~# xterm -display localhost:0

does not work also.

Bug#381124: shmget(lowmem) error: Invalid argument

2006-08-02 Thread Olaf Zaplinski

Package: xserver-common
Version: 6.9.0dfsg.1-5po2

Whenever I start X, I get:

shmget(lowmem) error: Invalid argument

First, I thought I got a buggy update by apt-get upgrade and recovered
old version from backup. That one started X one time, since then it also
fails. Yes, I rebooted and tried again to no avail. Windows XP runs
fine, so I guess it is no hardware error. How can I check that?

Bug#281885: Caught signal 11. Server aborting

2004-12-10 Thread Olaf Zaplinski

Hi!

Branden Robinson wrote:

Hmm...did you perhaps upgrade your kernel?

Yes, but after building my own 2.6.9, everything worked for several days up
to 'day X'. I can only imagine that cron-apt updated some packages, other
changes were not done.

What I did then was:

- dumping my former-Woody-then-dist_upgraded-to-Sarge-Debian
- installed Sarge from scratch without cron-apt
- built my own 2.9.10rc2 vanilla kernel

After that, everything worked again like it did before which includes
freezing occasionally under high system load (could be exhausted swap space
and not a bug).

Sorry that I cannot help really, but I need this machine for my everyday's
work (it is not a home user's box).

Regards
Olaf

2004-11-18 Thread Olaf Zaplinski

Neither hardware nor XFree config changed within the last weeks. Did the
software? I use cron-apt. Anyway, yesterday X worked, today it crashes:
