 Planning to post 3.0.5.9 tomorrow.

Fixes include COUNTRY and MAILFROM, improved installer,
autoreview directory option, error directory for files not
able to be moved, smartermail forward issue resolved etc.

In general we have been pleased with the results - of the
outstanding issues these seem to be isolated to a specific

2005-10-20 Thread Scott Fisher

Assuming you have a declude 3.x.
Stop the decludeproc process
rename the decludeproc3059.exe to decludeproc.exe
copy decludeproc.exe to your imail folder (replacing old one, backup if
needed)

Start the decludeproc process.

Yes the only change is the decludeproc.exe although in the
full install now it has all the new configs and both SM and
  IM versions.

I will put the links on the upgrade page for just the
  decludeproc.exe for SM and IM

   Planning to post 3.0.5.9 tomorrow.

Fixes include COUNTRY and MAILFROM, improved installer, autoreview
directory option, error directory for files not able to be moved,
   smartermail forward issue resolved etc.

In general we have been pleased with the results - of the
  outstanding
issues these seem to be isolated to a specific customer
  environments,
and we are currently working to try replicate these.

We are using smartermail 2.6 with Declude 3.0.5.5 and have no problems.

We are a low volume, 6,000 a day with 1200 being legit, on dual
processor 533 with 2 gigs ram.
We run the following AV products, F-prot, AVG, and ClamAV (persistent)
on inbound and outbound. For spam we have Sniffer (persistent), INVuribl
2.7, and the usual spam tests running.

Re: [Declude.JunkMail] Wondering about Declude 3.x

2005-10-19 Thread Richard Lanard
Not at all, but my judgement is based upon user submitted emails to our
spam account for review and personal emails that I receive.

My guess is that those two problems would only occur under high loads.
When we send out broadcasts, ~ 10,000 emails, delivery times for
incoming messages to local users does go up, but I have not seen Declude
flat out miss any messages.

Otherwise, it has been a flawless transition from IMail to SmarterMail.

Since things have been quite for some time, I just wanted to check up on
what is happening with 3.x. The last that I heard, there were several
people having issues with multi-processor systems. The thread settings
  also
concern me in the way that they are being implemented. It appears from
reports that these can greatly affect the performance of a system (and
therefore it's stability/ability), and knowing how variable E-mail can
 be,
I'm not sure that this is something that I would want to have hard coded

my system. I would hope that there would be another way to go about
 this.

Right now I'm on 2.0.6.16 and have been for some time, but as bugs
 arise,
and bug fixes are released, I would like to have the peace of mind to
upgrade to the latest code, but I'm not sure that I have that yet.

I know that the folks at Declude have been working long and hard at this

sometime now, and I don't want to disrespect that hard work, but I would
appreciate an update on where things are, and where they are going as
 far

I appreciate the others sharing their experiences, but I was also hoping
that someone from Declude could comment on the current state, any known
issues, and what the plans are related to bugs and/or tweaks to the
newly introduced code.

Thanks,

RE: [Declude.JunkMail] Wondering about Declude 3.x

2005-10-19 Thread David Barker
Planning to post 3.0.5.9 tomorrow.

Fixes include COUNTRY and MAILFROM, improved installer, autoreview directory
option, error directory for files not able to be moved, smartermail forward
issue resolved etc.

In general we have been pleased with the results - of the outstanding issues
these seem to be isolated to a specific customer environments, and we are
currently working to try replicate these.

Ditto, since we run dual-proc IMail servers, as well. What are the current

Re: [Declude.JunkMail] Wondering about Declude 3.x

2005-10-18 Thread Darrell \([EMAIL PROTECTED])

Matt,

I have been running 3.0.5.7 on a single and multi proc machine both of which
process over 100K messages a day with one getting close to 150K with no
issues. Everything is processing fine. Under 3.0.5.7 I am not seeing the
country and mailfrom issue I seen in the 3.0.5.5 version. Also, the sleep
issue I seen in earlier versions does not occur in 3.0.5.7.

Depending on your volume you will need to tweak the settings for how the
threads operate. If you have a bursty flow and a high thread count you can
see pretty good prolonged cpu spikes because you will/could have a bunch of
external processes launched at the exact same time. Under the old versions
2.x this was not an issue since processes were launched as the volume came
in balanced over time - as you know with 3.x it batches processes messages
for the most part. With some tweaking you can mitigate it fairly well.

So it is your sense that now they are ready to take on customers with

That means I can finally upgrade (thanks to your persistence).

Oh the pressure to commit to that :). I can say comfortably that I have no
concerns with the product in a multi processor environment and I would
deploy it on any of the servers I maintain. The caveat I have is that that
for a high volume servers you will have to tweak the settings to get it
where you need it. If not expect high cpu depending on circumstances.
