[Bug 370758] Re: unable to edit location name in clock

2009-05-02 Thread Simon
Hmm. On reflection, the workaround I described does work, cumbersome
though it is, but it seems I can't get weather information for this
location now. I guess the lat. and long. values aren't sufficient for
it to work out that it's the same place.

This is only a small bug, but I do think it *is* a bug, since it
represents a regression from functionality which worked in Intrepid,
Hardy etc

[Bug 369696] Re: package gedit-plugins 2.26.1-0ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2009-05-02 Thread duanedesign
My problem is now fixed. I will try and explain what happened.

I had a broken soft link that was preventing me from doing the updates.
(as you can see in the term.log)

raise ValueError, "/usr/bin/python does not match the python default
version. It must be reset to point to %s" % debian_default

This broken soft link was not caused by any bug, I was switching python
versions while
doing testing. Once I fixed the soft link to point to Python2.6 the updates
ran.

Upgraded the following packages:
apport (1.0-0ubuntu5) to 1.0-0ubuntu5.2
gnome-app-install (0.5.24-0ubuntu1) to 0.5.24-0ubuntu1.1
python-apport (1.0-0ubuntu5) to 1.0-0ubuntu5.2
python-problem-report (1.0-0ubuntu5) to 1.0-0ubuntu5.2

Then I opened up the Package Manager and attempted to uninstall the
gedit-plugins and it was successful in un-installing.

until today i was able to install packages I would just get an error at
the end.

E: gedit-plugins: subprocess post-installation script returned error
exit status 1

So that part of my previous post (about being unable to do updates) was
a problem not related to this bug, at least in my case.

[Bug 330205] Re: terminal resizes when reset

2009-05-02 Thread Ryan Harper
On Jaunty amd64, still broken for me (gnome-terminal 2.26.0, libvde9
/libvde-common 0.20.0). Following the gnome bug entry[1], it looks like
it's a vde[2] bug instead. This fix isn't yet in Jaunty, but was just
recently updated to Karmic[3]. I installed the karmic versions of
libvte9, libvte-common, and gnome-terminal and that fixes things. Once
the libvte9/libvte-common changes from karmic hit jaunty, I'll switch
back.

[Bug 371086] [NEW] USB Thumb Drive Mounts but is inaccessible

2009-05-02 Thread Larry M
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Standard 2Gb thumb drive that is consistently in use between my Mac OS
and my Windows systems. Both read and write to this thumb drive with no
problems. When I insert it it shows up and is mounted but I can't open
it up or do anything else with it. The drive label is correct and the
system recognizes it as a USB mass storage device. I attempted to mount
the drive with no response. The eject option is not available either.
Fresh installation of Ubuntu 9.04 on a Sun Ultra-24.

Public bug reported:

hey... as a user of ubuntu, i miss itunes, cause it is very user-
friendly... but, rhythmbox... there's no easy way of modifying an albums
artwork or lyrics in a device like an ipod... this is pretty bad and
makes me think bad of this program... you should create a way of adding
and modifying artworks and lyrics to songs in the library, and directly
in the ipod, cause this "problem" is certainly lowering points to your
rhythmbox... well, that's all... i hope u make something for this.

[Bug 371042] Re: Nautilus crashes after mounting a non-empty CD to CD-RW

2009-05-02 Thread Emrah Ergin
Same story, here.

Installed Jaunty 32 bit on my desktop PC with one DVD-ROM and one CD-RW.
Whenever I insert a non-blank CD into the CD-RW tray, I lose all icons
on the desktop and cannot start the file manager. (Apparently, Nautilus
crashes in the background.)

Uninstalling the packages "brasero", "libbrasero-media0" and restarting
the computer seems to have resolved the problem. I installed the
penultimate version of "brasero" and "libbrasero-media0" from "Intrepid
Backports" to check, and saw that they worked a treat.

[Bug 371042] [NEW] Nautilus crashes after mounting a non-empty CD to CD-RW

2009-05-02 Thread heartsmagic
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

First of all this bug showed up after Jaunty Alpha 2.
If you have multiple CD devices such as one CD-Rom or DVD-Rom and a CD-RW,
inserting a non-empty media to CD-RW makes nautilus crash. Desktop icons are
vanishing, too. This bug occures if there are multiple CD devices. If there is
just one CD-RW everything is OK. Also, if you use a non-empty media, again
there is no problem.

Here is a stack trace:

[Bug 209520] Re: unclear error when lanman authentication is refused on the server

2009-05-02 Thread Trab
Hello All,

I had a similar issue in 9.04 trying to access a SMB NAS share. The
solution I found was to add the following lines to /etc/samba/smb.conf
under global (I haven't tried with only some of the lines, so one or the
other may be unnecessary)

client lanman auth = Yes
lanman auth = Yes
client ntlmv2 auth = no

Hope this helps someone

I get the same on a Medion laptop SIM2110.
Power management doesn't work. Suspend locks up the laptop on a power on.
Battery state is really hit or miss. Sometimes it shows me a lot of detail in

Sometimes it shows me nothing.
Opensuse 11.1 also has this same problem.
I was hoping 9.04 would have fixed it.
Back to XP for me :(

[Bug 371009] [NEW] nautilus automatic script execution broken

2009-05-02 Thread arturj
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Since Ubuntu Jaunty the following function in Nautilus seems to be
broken:

If a USB Pendrive with some file like "autorun.sh" is insearted,
nautilus automatically executes this bash script, at least it presents a
dialog which askes the user if he wishes the script to be executed or
not.

With Jaunty this doesn't work, but on the other hand nautlius seems to
take care of my script. Here is an example:

1. If I plug in a USB Pendrive with NO scripts then Nautilus opens
automatically showing the drives content (it is configured to do so).

2. But if I plug in a USB Pendrive with a script then Nautilus does NOTHING
(nor does nautilus open showing the content or present a dialog asking the user
to execute the script). Script resides in root-folder of the pendrive and is
named "autorun.sh" and contains just:
>#/bin/bash
>wine dosomething.exe

[Bug 370999] [NEW] Brasero reports 0% done until finished burning

[Bug 371005] [NEW] nautilus file browser doesn't always update its view on moving files inwards

2009-05-02 Thread dcam
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

This is reported on an up-to-date Jaunty.

I have an empty directory, /big/Downloads. If I open the nautilus file
browser view of it, and I move a file or directory into it, the file
browser shows itself unchanged, ie blank [wrong behaviour].

If I then click Reload, I can see the contents, but it doesn't show
until I click Reload.

You can see a vnc2swf recording of this behaviour at
http://www.aaa.net.au/campbell/recording.html

My home directory is /big/dcampbel in the same partition as the folder,
hence moving from the desktop to folder is a move.

If however, I go to the commandline and create a file or directory in
/big/Downloads, they immediately appear in the nautilus file browser.

Also, if I create another directory, /big/tmp2 with identical
permissions, and I move the file or directory into that, everything
works fine.

Here are the permissions:

dcamp...@vostro:/big$ ls -ald /big/Downloads /big/tmp2 /big/dcampbel/

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

platform.

2) I believe the package is gnome-system-tools

3) When I select System > Administration > Users and Groups menu option,
the dialog does not give me option to Add User or Delete as those
buttons are disabled.

Click on the Manage Groups button also display a disabled dialog with
all the Add Group, Properties, Delete buttons disabled.

2009-05-02 Thread Dave
I'm closing this bug, since the root problem seems to have been
addressed in gcalctool included with Ubuntu 9.04.

Now, the Accuracy only seems to persist while in Scientific mode. If
the user switches to any other mode, the accuracy is reset to 9 places.

[Bug 370980] [NEW] totem with classical archives flaky amd64

2009-05-02 Thread b49P23TIvg
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

On Lenovo T500 base system, Jaunty 9.04 gnome upgraded from Intrepid:
find www.classicalarchives.com with firefox. (My Internet provided Time Warner
cable & wireless router).
Activate one of the free play concerts.
I then have to struggle with the totem pause/start, time slider, playlist to
start the music. Waiting a long time doesn't seem to work. Once it starts the
compositions play with a fairly long interstitial quiet span. (Or disconnect,
after which the struggle resumes.)

The problem might be the wireless driver, I suppose.I had to install this
thing:
.compat_autoconf_master-2009-04-08-2-gd3990f2

Thanks, Dave.

[Bug 183846] Re: google calendar source does not show all events

2009-05-02 Thread R.M.C
Same for me. Any recurring events from Google calender will not display
at all.

I have to enter progress logs twice a day at my work, Once at 12:00 and
again at 5:00, Monday - Friday. Because I keep my email client open all
day, I added the events to a Google Calendar to remind my self. None of
them show at all.

I also have important recurring filing dates set for my side
projects...they don't show at all either.

Running 9.04

I hope that this problem is fixed soon in Hardy 8.04 LTS so that this
workaround is no-longer necessary.

If the problem is with 8.04 LTS that is Long Term Support well I guess
all we can do is go for the newer version without LTS. Ian.

[Bug 370895] [NEW] nautilus popdowns can't be disabled.

2009-05-02 Thread quindo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

When inserting or mounting a device one or more "popdowns" are shown in the
browse-window.
These inform me that pictures and/or music has been found on these devices.
These "popdowns" will constantly be displayed when browsing the device.
Especially on a netbook (1024x600) they take up too much of the already limited
screen-real-estate.

On my acer aspire one I have one sd-card alway's mounted as /home/
and browsing that will also show these pop-downs.

It would be nice if those popdown dissapear after a few seconds or maybe
are turned into notifications?

I tried the other options in "send to..." and it doesn't work to send to
pidgin either when choosing to send to a msn account. Send a file to
"Removable disks and shares" works though.

I can attach a file if someone can say what command I should use or what
they need to know to fix this problem.
