[Bug 1754425] Re: 18.04 3.27 Gnome-shell Near-Fatalities

2018-03-12 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks.

This certainly looks like a kernel bug or hardware failure. Your errors
coming from the 'pcieport' kernel module appear to correlate with errors
from the 'nvme' module (for a solid state hard drive). So I think that's
the problem area, which will indeed slow down everything and make
various hardware devices non-responsive.

Your description also mentions wifi issues (which would be your
'ath10k_pci' kernel module) but I think that's most likely a side-effect
of the PCIe problems from the former.

If I had to guess then you probably need one of:
  (a) a kernel bug fix; or
  (b) a new solid state drive; or
  (c) a new motherboard.

We'll wait and see what the kernel people say...

** Description changed:

+ If I open the lid, it seems that the computer flat-out doesn't wake up.
HOWEVER, if I wait patiently more than 20 seconds, and press (not hold)
the power button, SOMETIMES, the computer will "snap out of it" and come
back to my desktop. Although RAM is 25% used, and CPU usage is around
25-50% or less (depending on apps), mouse will regularly freeze up for
some seconds every 10 seconds or so. Wifi will claim to be "on", but
there aren't any networks in the "select network" dialogue. Turning wifi
off and then on does not fix this problem. So I'll be in this terrifying
state of non-responsive every few seconds computer, with no ability to
reconnect to networks and report bug.

I force restart. The first restart, upon login, will hang indefinitely
on a purple screen with the cursor in the middle. I will have to force
restart again. Upon 2nd restart, it will boot "normally".

[Bug 1754169] Re: [Bionic] [wayland] many gnome applications exit or crash when a file is opened from within

Thank you for your bug report. Could give some extra details on what
rhythmbox feature you are using? It should be going through a configured
proxy without problem but there might be issues with specific
services...

[Bug 1755174] [NEW] rhythmbox ignores proxy settings

2018-03-12 Thread Hadmut Danisch
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I just tested the upcoming 18.04 release from a network behind a web
proxy without direct internet access. Although I have set the proxy in
the desktop settings and other programs (e.g. this bug report) honor and
use the proxy, rhythmbox complains that there is no network and seems to
completely ignore proxy settings.

regards

[Bug 1754862] Re: Screen remains active on lid close

2018-03-12 Thread Leonardo Donelli
Keep in mind that I launched the command in a different configuration
(external monitor attached configured as the single display) and without
triggering the bug beforehand. Should I reupload any of the attachments
immediately after having triggered the bug? i.e. after closing and
reopening the lid using the laptop display that remains active.

apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected artful

** Description changed:

  I have a Dell XPS 13 9370 (early 2018 model) with Ubuntu 17.04
installed. I use the Gnome on XOrg session.

- When I close the laptop lid, I can see through the small (< 1mm)
- hairline crack that the screen is still active, showing the entire
- desktop. This happens only once I am logged in to the gnome shell
- session, I tried closing the lid before logging and the screen is
- correctly blanked.

[Bug 1744970] Re: Lowering some windows causes other, unrelated windows to also be lowered.

2018-03-12 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Looks like upstream just noticed. This fix went in AFTER 3.27.92 ...

commit 00b8ca7aebbd7c2288716dff2d04d0e75be523ac
Author: Georges Basile Stavracas Neto
Date: Thu Dec 14 11:38:54 2017 -0200

Revert "window: Raise and lower tile match in tandem"

Raising and lowering windows in tandem without a proper grouping
mechanism ended up being more annoying than functional.

This reverts commit e76a0f564c1e07e32fe857d0f8e5b723c3bbe57d.
