Re: [Bug 113003] Re: Playing video in totem causes high I/O wait time
So, I have been doing some testing. I don't think it has anything to do with totem anymore. I have seen the same behavior when running screensavers, games and other times when there is some graphics work being done. I now think it is either my X configuration, the video card drivers or maybe the card itself. I am using linux-restricted-modules-2.6.20-16-386 and nvidia-glx-new (same thing happens with nvidia-glx). I am attaching my xorg.conf and my X log file if anyone can can see anything wrong with it. I recently added BusID "PCI;1:0:0" to the file and that has made a difference. It doesn't happen as frequently anymore but playing frozen-bubble or running any screensaver will still cause the same behavior. Re: [Bug 113003] Re: Playing video in totem causes high I/O wait time
So far it happens with any video I play. i use totem-xine, and i have an nvidia geforce 6800 and I am using the latest restricted drivers (i believe I put that in the bug) On 5/18/07, Sebastien Bacher <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Thank you for your bug. [Bug 113003] Playing video in totem causes high I/O wait time
Public bug reported: When playing a video in totem the time apps spend in I/O wait (reported in the System Monitor applet) slowly climbs upward, eventually the system becomes almost completely unresponsive. Shutting down totem can stop the problem. If left long enough the time spent in wait gets to 100% and the time it takes for the system to stabilize increases, taking several minutes. Switching out of X and to a terminal (say Ctrl-Alt-F1) does not fix the problem but once I go back I can see that while I was out of X the system was idle instead of in wait. So actually displaying to the video card may have something to do with it. I have tried this with and without 3D effects (Beryl) and Beryl seems to make it worse but it happens without it so it doesn't seem to be directly related. I am running Ubuntu Feisty fully up to date. I have a Dell XPS system with a Intel Pentium D at 2.7GHz, GeForce 6800 video card. I am using the restricted nVidia drivers. ** Affects: totem (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Playing video in totem causes high I/O wait time https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/113003 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for totem in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
