I have clean install of 14.04 64 bit and I need to manually grant access
to Google each boot. I hope the fix willl also be applied to 14.04 64
bit.

[Bug 863769] Re: Display automatically dims in few seconds of inactivity to a black screen making the desktop unusable

2011-10-01 Thread VladimirCZ
The same problem here with Ubuntu 11.10 beta 2 64 bit on a desktop PC
without any battery. The Dim option is no longer available in System
Settings - Screen. A monitor is dimmed immediately when the PC becomes
inactive. Setting turn off after 1 hour helps a bit.

[Bug 532211] Re: Text Address bar missing in nautilus

2010-03-13 Thread VladimirCZ
Richard Ssekibuule wrote on 2010-03-09:
Default option is fine, but non-power users should be given the option of
clicking an icon to bring back the address.

I would add that for some tasks it is easier to use the text bar (you
can copy a long address in it) and for some the button bar (when
searching through sub-folders of one folder). Switching the bars via
gconf-editor is not enough flexible, but rather annoying.

I wonder, why for some people a decision that one option will be the
default automatically means that switching to other options is probably
not needed. Similar scheme applies to tabs at bottom (now back on top) -
this should be rather an option in Preferences of Nautilus.

[Bug 509079] Re: nautilus has tabs on bottom

2010-02-27 Thread VladimirCZ
Having the tabs only at bottom is a regression and an example of
creative idiocy. Every program has the tabs on the top, every browser
etc. If someone wants to have it inconsistently at bottom than this
should be an option for him / her in the Nautilus preferences. Otherwise
it is only a madness trigger for others.

[Bug 177929] Re: We needs file encoding select function.

2009-10-29 Thread VladimirCZ
Btw, AFAIK, the issue should concern mainly zips, not 7z or rar - because they
have Unicode chars support (or am I wrong here?).
RAR had used until some version default windows codepages and then it was
switched to Unicode.

[Bug 289939] Re: Gedit encoding autodetection fails on all cp1250 files

2009-10-21 Thread VladimirCZ
I think that I have found the cause.

If you use gconf-editor and navigate to the key
/apps/gedit-2/preferences/encodings/auto_detected then you will see a
chain of encodings which are considered during auto detection. When I
did so, I could see that any encodings for the Czech language were
missing even though I had installed complete Czech language support via
System - Administration - Language support.

1) Workaroud:
--
a) find the right encodings:
Start gedit - Open - Character encoding button-list - Add and Remove. Here
you can add encodings that will be added to the button-list. Select and add
all that you intend to use. Then press OK and then close gedit.

b) add the encodings to the autodetection key:
Start the gconf-editor, search for
/apps/gedit-2/preferences/encodings/auto_detected. Under the key
auto_detected in the key shown_in_menu you will see all encodings that you
added in the previous step. So, double click the key auto_detected and add
the same encondings to this key. Then you can sort them e.g. like UTF-8, your
encodings, rest of all starting with the CURRENT

That is all. For me it works well.

2) BugFix
--

I assume that local encodings relating to a language installed through
the language support should be automatically added to those two encoding
keys of gedit, because the user probably writes and reads in more
languages and will need it.

[Bug 289939] Re: Gedit encoding autodetection fails on all cp1250 files

2009-10-21 Thread VladimirCZ
That is true. And at the moment it is not a bug but rather an
inconvenience, because when a user installs additional language support
(especially spell-checking) it is probable he or she will have files
also in these additional languages.

Perhaps, these auto-detection encoding options should be included into
gedit Preferences with the same dialogue window that is used for
adding encondings for file opening. Or eve better both gedit keys
auto_detected shown_in_menu could be editable via Preferences in
this way. That would be helpful and would save time of users ...

Anyway, thank you for your responses.

[Bug 379119] [NEW] file-roller does not recognise windows cp1250 encoding

2009-05-21 Thread VladimirCZ
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: file-roller

Recognition of windows cp1250 encoding fails at archives compressed
under MS Windows into .zip or .rar format of compressed container, but
works well with .7z archives.

Examples attached:
1) Latina.7z ... compressed with the latest 7-zip software under MS Windows XP
SP3
2) Latina.zip ... compressed with the latest 7-zip software under MS Windows XP
SP3
3) Latina.rar ... compressed with WinRar 2.5 (no unicode support) software
under MS Windows XP SP3
The file-roller for
1) 7z: works well
2) zip: extraction done properly, but accented characters are replaced with ?
2) rar: extraction produces unusable files, when there is an accented character
in the path or in the filename of such files.

Detected under:
Ubuntu 9.04 64-bit with non-free unrar installed.
