My plan is to wire my Duet, and a couple of spare duet receivers to individual amps hooked to zone speakers, 5-6 zones in total. My amps will be the inexpensive $25 amps that were quoted earlier in the thread loop. Space is a premium and my closet is small and although I like to think I'm an audiophile, I'm an imposter who likes nice music. Probably going to purchase a Touch soon to put this by my bedroom and one in the living room so people can see what is being played. The other 3 will just be the duet network receiver tucked away in the closet where I can just control it with smartphone or ipad and more for just background music. benybrady's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=39813 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97106 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

No, I just purchased a second Touch as a spare and also have a second Duet boxed as a spare. Over the years I have used and continue to useseveral orphaned hifi devices: 3 Carver power amps, 3 Soundstream preamps & a tuner, 6 Philips CD players, a David Hafler preamp and 6 Nakamichi cassette decks. Granted they are electronic devices not subject to the need to have a server in the cloud or updated software subject to the whims of Apple or Microsoft, but I've stopped waiting in line for the latest computer operating system roll out. My decision to stay with the Squeezebox system is based on the quality audio performance that could seemingly be bettered at this time at about 3 times the price. I considered Sonos but the quality edge still goes to Squeezebox (I compared Stereophile test results) Most critical listening is of FLAC files with podcasts being #2. Slacker radio is a distant 3rd to discover new music artists ( which leads to CD purchases to rip to flac. musicom's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=30459 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97106 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Did you try powering up without the wireless card ? A faulty wireless card can prevent power up. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97155 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Squeezebox v3 screen black but s/pdif port lit up
The display has probably died. Happened to me, and seems moderately common. AFAIK, there's no repair available, or even possible. However, if only the display is dead, you can communicate with it using a utility called net-UDAP that has a thread here on the forum. Using net-UDAP, you can configure the network connections and then you're able to control the player from SBS/LMS or various remote control apps. Essentially, you now have a receiver. The configuration is command line intensive, and you need to know basic networking parameters like ip address, dhcp, dns, wpa etc. Wired is easier than wireless, but wireless can be done. You can check in on the net-UDAP thread for help and more info. mikeh49's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=48620 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97155 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Squeezebox v3 screen black but s/pdif port lit up
My Squeezebox v3 has stopped working. The display is black, but there is light coming from the s/pdif port. I removed the wireless card and re-seated it, I carried out a restart holding the 1 button down prior to powering it up as suggested in these forums and it still isn't working. Any other suggestions? help! strictmashine's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58017 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97155 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

That makefile has been depreciated for a while now. The current windows squeezeslave binary supports ASIO, Direct Sound, WASAPI and WDMKS. However, I just successfully built an asio only version using the deprecated/makefile.mingw32-asio-display makefile. I believe -mno-cygwin has been removed from the gcc4 binary recently. I'm still running a cygwin version listed on the wiki. Try changing the default compiler to v3 using /usr/bin/set-gcc-default-3.sh and rebuilding everything. make -f deprecated/makefile.mingw32-asio-display realclean make -f deprecated/makefile.mingw32-asio-display I can put the asio only binary on googlecode if you'd like. ralphy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3484 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=93607 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
