Re: [slim] changing wireless password
Any update on a workaround ? This one's pretty frustrating. -- ben2e ben2e's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10318 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=74691 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Slimserver 6.5.2 on Linkstation HGLan ?
I'm a bit lost at this point. I think I'm part of the way through getting some of the updated software to work, but the last working release I had was 6.3. So right now, 6.3 doesn't work either. I actually ran my / fs out of space trying to get the requirements loaded and have just spent much of the past two days de-bricking the thing. Huge waste of time so far. To be honest, I'd be happy to just have 6.3 back and working. Either way I'll need to do some surgery. Where again do the zipped tars live ? I may still give at least a try at getting it to work. Might as well since nothing works at all right now. -- ben2e ben2e's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10318 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=34145 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Slimserver 6.5.2 on Linkstation HGLan ?
I've downloaded the latest .deb file and am having no luck getting it to install. dpkg -i slimserver_6.5.2_all.deb (Reading database ... 18205 files and directories currently installed.) Unpacking slimserver (from slimserver_6.5.2_all.deb) ... dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of slimserver: slimserver depends on libmp4-info-perl; however: Package libmp4-info-perl is not installed. slimserver depends on libyaml-perl (>= 0.57-1); however: Package libyaml-perl is not installed. slimserver depends on libsql-abstract-limit-perl; however: Package libsql-abstract-limit-perl is not installed. . . . I also get errors running apt-get update Failed to fetch http://debian.slimdevices.com/dists/unstable/main/binary-powerpc/Packages.gz 404 Not Found Reading Package Lists... Done W: Couldn't stat source package list http://debian.slimdevices.com unstable/main Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/debian.slimdevices.com_dists_unstable_main_binary-powerpc_Packages) - stat (2 No such file or directory) W: Couldn't stat source package list http://debian.slimdevices.com unstable/main Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/debian.slimdevices.com_dists_unstable_main_binary-powerpc_Packages) - stat (2 No such file or directory) W: You may want to run apt-get update to correct these problems E: Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead. So it appears there's no powerpc branch for unstable/main at debian.slimdevices.com. Am I then restricted to running 6.3 ? Are there any other workarounds ? Perhaps other mirrors then mirrors.kernel.org that are better for powerpc (FreeLink) ? Re: [slim] Any good tuning guides for slimserver ? Very slow browse response times on Linkstatio
Which is probably why I don't see MySql. I'll have to investigate if there is any way to update things. I'm clumsy with Debian. If I try to install mysql-server-5.0 I get a zillion dependency failures. Perhaps due to FreeLink for the Linkstation being old ? I'll investigate further. -- ben2e ben2e's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10318 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=34047 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Any good tuning guides for slimserver ? Very slow browse response times on Linkstatio
I just did some simple browse tests and they seem to peg the CPU. %idle goes to 0 and the slimserver process spikes. I've also seen folks mention a my.tt file but I'm unable to find it. I have a slimserver/SQL/mysql directory but I can find no mysql configuration files. Perhaps the version I'm using (6.5.0 I believe) uses SQLite. -- ben2e ben2e's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10318 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=34047 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Any good tuning guides for slimserver ? Very slow browse response times on Linkstatio
I've got Slimserver running on a Gigabit Linkstation (PowerPC) with < 4000 tracks. I've searched for suggestions tuning but only seen lengthy arguments on MySql or Perl. I have some experience with both pieces of software and it's hard to believe either would take 10 seconds to respond to a browse command (browse music folder being the slowest) under any normal circumstance. I realize a linkstation doesn't have a super fast processor but a top command shows very little memory being used. I was hoping someone had posted a tuning guide since it seems there are reasonably savy Linux folks out there. [slim] When to expect a Squeezebox version 4 ?
The version 3 Squeezebox has now been out there for over a year. Granted they released a Transporter, it's hardly in the same league. Although this device seems to stand alone in user satisfaction, it would be nice to see one which supported multi-channel digital out via HDMI and perhaps the higher resolution audio formats (96/192 kHz). Several new devices seem to be coming out at the same time. Apple TV, Netgear EVA8000, D-Link DSM-750. I may not be naming the best as I'm just researching these devices as well as MythTV. That said, recording audio is my first priority and I like the included screen vs most other devices which require a video screen. I just thought it may be due for some technical updates and like most technophiles, don't want to be the last guy buying the old version (at least not for a while ;) -- ben2e ben2e's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10318 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=32917 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
