[slim] Re: Multiple Items In Tags not working for Album Titles
Can anybody confirm that this is a bug (or is it as designed)? If it is a bug I will file a bug report. To have this option working for album titles would be very handy for classical albums. If you have for example an album with Beethoven, Ludwig van - Symphony Nr. 1 (comprising serveral movements) and Schubert, Franz - Symphony Nr. 4 (comprising several movements) on it, you simply have to tag the album as Beethoven, Ludwig van - Symphony Nr. 1; Schubert, Franz - Symphony Nr. 4, define ; as separator and you can browse to both symphonies separatly. Without this option you are not able to browse to the second symphony (and browse title does not help since there you find only the single movements which may be titled Adagio... or so on. So for classical albums this option would really be great. Dieter -- dip ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Re: Multiple Items In Tags not working for Album Titles
Dieter an alternative approach to tagging Classical CDs is to make the mental leap that CD does not have to equal album. When I started this project I spent some time trying to get to the bottom of this, and found discussions in various forums on the topic (sorry, don't have a URL to hand). In my collection the CD you described would appear as two quite separate albums (in the sense of the value of the album tags), therefore showing up as entirely separate items in slimserver browsing. EXCEPT that both albums are contained within the same folder on my hard disc, so I can easily reconstruct the CD (from FLACs) if I ever need to. This approach does require a certain amount of extra manual taggin effort, but to be honest the automatic tagging you get on classical CDs is so awful that you wouldn't want it anyway. Ceejay sounds interesting. The only drawback I see is when I want to find the CD corresponding to an album. My classical CDs are sorted by the first mentioned composer (in the example under Beethoven). If I separate the albums as described by you, how do I know that the Schubert symphony is in real life on the Beethoven CD? I could recognize it from the folder name if this is originally named (with both composers) but I prefer (at least at the moment) to have the folder names and the album names in the tags to be synchronized. I will think a little bit more about your approach. Nevertheless, I think that it is a bug, that the Multiple Items In Tags option does not work for album titles. Hi Dieter, I see that you have found the bug I filed some weeks ago for the multiple artists that you describe. http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1209 Roger -- RACliffe ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Hi Roger, yes, but I understand that it is working for you unter Windows XP but not unter Linux. For me it does not work unter Windows XP. Or didn't I understand your description correctly?
