Re: [slim] Re: Slimserver 6.5 and MusicIP 1.7 getting along?
Ok I'm still on MMM 1.5 and Slimserver 6.3.1. Should I upgrade to: 1. MMM 1.6? 2. Slimserver 6.5? As I noted earlier: I've never had a better working MIP/Slimserver combination than 1.7/6.5. BUT this seems to depend a lot on the operating system you're running on. The issues I had were mainly related to character encoding in tags and filenames. An issue which imho had been adressed on Windows earlier than Linux. -- Michael - http://www.herger.net/SlimCD - your SlimServer on a CD http://www.herger.net/slim - AlbumReview, Biography, MusicInfoSCR ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

fairyliquidizer;144775 Wrote: > Why should I upgrade? > [to] Slimserver 6.5? > > Well I certainly hesitated to upgrade. And in fact found 6.5.1 to be more stable than the 6.5 final release but it's been worth it to me. Lots of little UI improvements, faster performance, and many old nagging bugs fixed. Overall a positive experience. Caveat: be prepared to update all your old favorite plugins and to rebuild your preferences and library. The smoothest option for me ended up being a fresh uninstall/install, with my .pref saved out and recopied into my slimserver directory afterwards. I Think you have to start the API in the musicIP options then stop and restart slimserver. ...and it's still called "MusicMagic" in SlimServer, not MusicIP. -- Michael - http://www.herger.net/SlimCD - your SlimServer on a CD http://www.herger.net/slim - AlbumReview, Biography, MusicInfoSCR ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Thanks Sidhue - Some of the folder names and track names have eg umlauts (especially the Wagner, of course) but these appear ok in the MIP interface, and I have the same problems with at least one album with no special characters. As a test I'll play with the names and rescan but I'm not hopeful Cheers Cherise -- cherise cherise's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2473 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=27631 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

If so, MIP does not handle these well at all. I experienced something similar and renaming the files without the characters solved the problem (after a full clear and rescan). -- Siduhe Siduhe's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=723 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=27631 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Re: Slimserver 6.5 and MusicIP 1.7 getting along?
'Fraid my experience isn't so good, to the extent that I no longer have MIP enabled. No problems with being able to create mixes - issue is with the way albums are presented. If I enable MIP (either with blank path in SS or with the library path set)I find that multi disc sets are shown in bizarre ways. For instance - Siegfried is a 4 disc set. I have the tracks numbered sequentially through all four 'CD's as if they were in one album, and all the tracks are in a single folder. The album name, artist, composer (all non-track related tags) are exactly the same for all tracks. With MIP turned off the album is shown as one album (as set in Behaviour)- no problem. But with MIP enabled I get variable numbers of albums - the last time I tried this morning I had two albums, both called Siegfried, each containing seemingly random tracks from the original four CDs. In other cases there may be three or four albums shown, with the same behaviour. I've removed the MIP tags from the (FLAC) fles, deleted from MIP and then revalidated. I've completely reinstalled SS more times than I care to remember, re scanned, checked all tags in Foobar and Tag&Rename - you name it, I think I've tried it. If anyone has a fix - please let me know. Cheers Cherise WinXP SP2, c14000 tracks, all flac, All non classical tracks one one physical disk (K:\Popular) - this is SS library path and includes shortcut to H:\Classical with all classical tracks. Tracks are in Artist/Album folders -- cherise cherise's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2473 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=27631 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

I'm using SlimServer 6.5 and MusicIp 1.6 without any issues. I have the "Music Folder" setting on the SlimServer blank and do not have any duplicate tracks. -jason -- jania jania's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=184 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=27631 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
