Hi Dev,

If you want to review a chapter of any guide, you do not have to ask.

Assuming that you:
  a) Have Access to our NextCloud instance
    and
  b) Are subscribed to the documentation mailing list,
just go ahead and:

  * Download a copy of the chapter from NextCloud.
  * Open the guide status spreadsheet inside NextCloud.
  * Add your name and initials to the guide contributors.
  * Add your initials to the "Rev2" column of the chapter.
  * Post a message to this mailing list to list,
telling other contributors what you are doing
and the estimated date by which you expect to
    complete and return your review.

If you are unsure about anything, or need more help/information,
please do not hesitate to ask on this list.

Thank you for wanting to contribute to the documentation team effort.

Best Regards
Dave

Hi Shravani,

I have reviewed your file. Good job, overall. Thanks! Glad to see you
caught some important changes from v6.0 to v6.4 (or in some cases
maybe errors in the v6.0 chapter). I accepted most of your changes and
left a lot of comments, including replies to your comments and
questions. Some figures need to be replaced, and one or two things
need to be researched.

I have put the reviewed file into Feedback.

[libreoffice-documentation] Review of Draw Guide part DG6302

2019-08-21 Thread Regina Henschel

Hi all,

I have reviewed DG6302, the version
DG6302-DrawingBasicShapes_VG_KK_RH_20190821.odt is in the feedback
folder now and the previous version is in Archive. I have added a lot of
comments. And I have added a text box with a larger comment, because the
margin was to small for it. This text box needs be deleted in the next
feedback version, because it hides the text under the box.

Kind regards
Regina

Please see my review comments below for Calc Guide Chapter 6202:

Page 12 Calc Guide - CG6202 Enter Edit Format Data Chapter > Series
Type &

Time Unit - the leader sentences are missing.

I accepted the addition

Page 14 - Note - shouldn't this be a caution or warning as it can lead
to

errors that are generated by this action?

Agreed and changed

Page 15 - I couldn't get the Sharing Content between Sheets to work,
can

someone else try it please, as it could just be me.

I tried and had no problems with the Sharing content option.

Data > Validity section I think may look better if there's a graphic
with
an example at the end of each page/tab section. It would bring it to
life

more.

I don't see how. Maybe someone else can.

p18 Delete cells has a minor chanage added

Accepted

p19 Deleting data and formatting - the leader sentence was missing

Accepted the addition

p22 Bullet point about Shift Cells had a character missing

p24 Formatting Fonts - a bit long winded to describe a drop-down menu
so

suggest it is changed from the select "the triangle..." wording.

Not agreed. If you just click the box nothing happens. You have to click
the triangle, so it is best to describe that.

p27 Format Cells > Borders - I've put prompts in where I think graphics
should be added in square brackets.

Added

p27 - Note. Shouldn't "shift-click" be Shft+Click?

Shift+click I think

p28 - A screenshot would be good at the end of the "Defining a new
Autoformat" Section.

I didn't add one

p29 - Using Themes introduction had a missed key stroke in the word
"styles".

p32, Color Scale & Data bars & Icon Sets. Shouldn't "All Cells" be in
bold
as an option that has been selected, to be consistent with formatting
in

the manuals as a whole?

Agreed, but you used Direct Formatting. I changed it into
StrongEmphasis.

p45 - Shouldn't the Note be a Caution? It's warning against the user's
error.

Agreed and changed.

I replaced the file in the Draft folder. I someone can add the graphic
as Claire suggested please use this file to do so.

Kind regards,
Kees

It sounds like you might be happier with doing proof-reading rather than
reviewing - at least for Base. For Base that is especially useful. Most
of the other guides have been largely proof-read many times already. There
are always new things added and it's always possible that someone new might
spot an even better way of saying something but the Base Handbook has
hardly ever been proof-read in English.

As far as reviewing the Base Handbook goes it might be trickier for you to
do later chapters but earlier ones might be fantastic if they've not been
 done already.

With Base, unlike other modules/programs/apps in the suite, the later
chapters might depend on you having followed through earlier chapters so
that you have the same sample database set-up. I'm not sure if it's
possible to just jump straight into later chapters.

Also since it's all so new it might be useful to start off by doing one of
the later chapters in the Writer Guide first, just to get used to the
work-flow, how the team works, how ODFAuthors works and generally settle in
a bit before jumping further into new territory.

However, it is your choice and whichever way you go is going to be very
 useful!
 Good luck and regards from
 Tom :)

and revised as necessary, I will publish the chapters and compile the
full book. Please note that any major changes suggested (that is,
improvements rather than correcting errors) will probably be postponed

Sorry to be a pain but when I select a chapter how do I set it so others
know I am reviewing it and how do I tell if a chapter is under review?
My interests cover both the forms side (gui front end) and the data base
back end setting up tables, views queries etc. As I was a database
manager and designer for many years I have spent many hours dealing with
both the front end (gui user forms and controls) and the back end data
base design.

Please advise me where you think I would be most useful.
