RE: [drakelist] Metal Varnish Question

2008-07-07 Thread wmacleod
Thank-you for the advice guys! I suspect the coating is either a yellowed
varnish or gold anodized plating. If I find something that's a good match I
will let you know.

Most likely, it was clear when applied new by Drake, but has yellowed with
age.

Hi Guys,

"TESTORS" paint company sells small spray cans of translucent / semi-clear
paint, too...I bought two for a different project here years ago (mine are
red)...

I imagine they'd have something in yellow, like what you're looking for.

Just go visit your nearest LARGE hobby emporium, & look around...and good
luck!

This is really a plating but it can be duplicated in paint.

[drakelist] Metal Varnish Question

2008-07-06 Thread wmacleod
Hi Drakelist

The alloy chassis used in the Drake C Line series appear to have been dipped
or sprayed with a light yellow-gold protective varnish or lacquer possibly
to protect against corrosion. This is what gives the chassis a light golden
appearance.

Does anyone know of a distributor who supplies a similar type of metal
varnish or lacquer?
