[Elecraft] [K3] DX4WIN K3 settings
Just started setting up DX4WIN to use with my K3. I would like to know what other people are using for settings in the radio preferences tab. I am using a real serial port, not a USB adaptor. Do you use K2 or K3 X4? I can't find the difference. Reply offline unless you think it is of interest to the group. There are other very popular logging programs so this topic may not interest many. [Elecraft] K3 & DX4WIN
I would like to converse off board in regard problem I am having when selecting spots via DX4WIN that have splits. Both VFO’s get the freq but the second VFO does not get the mode and Split is not enabled. 73 Mike K4PI __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
Re: [Elecraft] [K3] DX4WIN
I've been using DX4WIN with my K3 for about 3 years now. I did have to slightly modify the DX4WIN rig file to fix an issue with putting the radio in Split mode from packet spots, and I think also to fix an out-of-order set of commands that messed up the filter setting. I would be glad to share the updated file. 73... Re: [Elecraft] [K3] DX4WIN
David, DX4WIN works great with the K3. I use the K3 X4 file. I did have to make a couple of small changes to the rig file. You make those changes in DX4WIN. One small change keeps the K3 in CW Reverse mode (if desired). The other change corrects an incorrect command that reverses the filter settings between VFOs A and B. Finally, you have to make sure that you have VFO OFS set correctly within the K3 itself. These three small changes will make the K3 operate smoothly with DX4WIN. I can send you details on all three if you need them. Just email me direct. Re: [Elecraft] [K3] DX4WIN
I will second Doug. They work together with no issues. The first 2 radios on the drop down list are K2 & K3. I usually run the rig control through LP-Pan which works just fine also. [Elecraft] [K3] DX4WIN
I have no desire to start a debate about which logging program is best. I have not been able to find a definitive list of the radios that DX4WIN supports. Is anyone successfully using DX4Win with a K3. Any problems or issues you encountered? Re: [Elecraft] K3 DX4Win
Ken, I use DX4WIN with my K3 and I notice the same issue. I do not use PSK31 very often and when I do I have the change the mode manually within DX4WIN. This is more than likely a DX4WIN issue with the rig control file for the K3. The software is probably not recognizing the Data A or Data D modes on the K3 and by default assigns RTTY. N1MM contest software provides a way to map the modes in the Configurator. I would think some modification of the rig control file for the K3 is needed in DX4WIN. I would refer this to the DX4WIN reflector. [Elecraft] K3 DX4Win
Hi Gang Anyone using DX4Win with the K3, The MODE in DX4win will not recognize PSK31 on k3 and is defaulting to RTTY mode. IN DATA MD I am using PSK D. I have tried changing settings in DATA MD ie data A, on the k3 but no change. In DX4Win I have the mode box ticked for PSK31 RTTY. I have also un-checked RTTY in dx4win but it still defaults to RTTY...weird ! [Elecraft] K3 & DX4WIN
OK, here's the DX4WIN answer (and thanks to Vic, K2VCO, for alerting me to the K3 Config setting for baud rate. The radio is so new to me that I didn't know about that menu option): For DX4WIN, select Kenwood TS-850-9 (Kenwood + S meter) and match baud rates on the rig and in the logging program. 9600 works. Gosh, this is exciting (doesn't take much, in my case) 73, Gary, VE1RGB ___ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
