Re: [Felvtalk] Spanky is an angel

2011-01-02 Thread Natalie
Dear Stacy,
I am so sorry to hear about Spanky!
I consider myself so lucky that my two boys are doing exceptionally well;
every time I hear of one of the FeLVs passing in this group, I am reminded
of it and also know that one day, I, too, will have to face it. In the
meantime, I have some very old cats that will probably not live for much
longer. How sad that our animals live such a relatively short time, and
especially those with such debilitating illnesses! Thank God for people like
you who devote their lives to making theirs better!

Hello everyone:

We haven't posted much on this list for awhile since Spanky was diagnosed
with cranial mediastinal lymphoma. It is with a broken heart that I am
posting to say that Spanky lost his battle with FELV and lymphoma on New
Year's eve day.  He had a seizure earlier in the week after taking an
appetite stimulant and things went downhill this past week and his
phosphorous was so low the vet said they had never seen a cat with  low phos
like this, and he developed severe non-regenerative anemia.  His type of
lymphoma was fast growing and he wasn't able to have a chemo treatment for
weeks either.

Thank you so much to everyone on this list, your kitties, your angels for
all the help and support and love you've shown to us. You were an absolutely
wonderful support network.  Without this group we wouldn't have tried the
LCTI imulan, interferon or the many supplements we learned about like
Transfer factor etc.

I wish all of you the best in 2011 and beyond and will purray your furbabies
stay as healthy as they possibly can.
We send purrayers and healing thoughts to all of you.
Thanks again

Re: [Felvtalk] kitten vs. cat when adding a positive

2011-01-02 Thread Emeraldkittee
thanks, everyone.  I will go with what feels right.

I met the sweet kitten today - she currently has a URI; there was also
confusion about her status - she won't be retested (ELISA) until the end of
Jan; there were no plans there to get her the IFA, and they didn't seem to know
about it.  No judgement there, it's a shelter doing the best they can but of
course, I would need this done.  They want to wait and see what the ELISA is
again; guess we'll go from there.  I also found out she was a part of a litter,
all of whom tested negative.  She is adorable, but for whatever reason I'm
leaning towards some other adult kitties with another rescue.  We'll be making
a trip up there (weather cooperating) in a few weeks.  Don't you wish you could
take them all?

I have not read the FeLV site emails in months, but had time to read Spanky's
whole story today. I just saw this email come up, right after reading your
story, and I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I was wow'ed while reading by
your perseverance and love for Spanky. I'm dealing with EGC with my cat
Smookie, and the posts made regarding Spanky will help me with researching a
better treatment. Thank you. All your posts will be helpful to other furbaby

them. Again, I'm so sorry about your Spanky. Sending prayers for peace and
comfort for you.

Would it be true that if a young kitten, 3 mos, is positive on an
IFA that is more dire than a 2 yr old cat being confirmed on that
test? It seems like the younger the diagnosis, the sadder the outcome?

I am asking because in considering a friend for Whimsy, I've heard
about a local 3 mos old female who is positive. I am still waiting
for the shelter to let me know if it was IFA confirmed. There is
another positive, but he is a very large intimidating male and my
instinct tells me he wouldn't be right for our guy. I also have
been approved to adopt in WI, a few hrs drive, with a group that has
several 1-4 year old male and female positives.

Whimsy has started trying to play with his brothers on the other
side of the door and it's adorable. I'm not quite sure a kitten
would be the best idea for Whimsy or for us, but we shall see!

with cranial mediastinal lymphoma.

Hello everyone:

We haven't posted much on this list for awhile since Spanky was diagnosed
with cranial mediastinal lymphoma. It is with a broken heart that I am

Bless you Sherry for giving the much needed love to all these wonderful kitties!
As I've said since day one you being with Sids' kitties your an angel to all of them there.
Also, tell Dr. Jen thank you for what she does for them too!
It's never easy to lose one to this horrible disease! It is heart breaking!
You all made it a better place for the kitties. Giving them the love and medical attention they would not have had otherwise.
I love the name "Mickerdoodles"
Sids Kitties are always in my thoughts and prayers!
Sending many hugs to you and the kitties!

I had a feeling that I should stop in today to see him,so I kissed his head and told him that I loved him...his response was the most beautiful loud song of purrsanother broken piece of my heart, but the love I have will heal that broken piece in timeSherry"We who choose to surround ourselves with lives more temporarythan our own,Live within a fragile circle, easily and often breached.Unable to accept its awful gaps.We still would have it no other way"___Felvtalk mailing listFelvtalk@felineleukemia.orghttp://felineleukemia.org/mailman/listinfo/felvtalk_felineleukemia.org
