Re: CLS - for Patti

2005-08-25 Thread Belinda Sauro

   Patti,
I'm so sorry to hear about sweet little Ellen, how absolutely
horrible that these sweet little babies all perished because of the
unthinking, uncaring actions of a would be rescuer. I'm praying for her
50 cats at home and for any more kitties that have the unfortune of
ending up in a transport she is involved with.

It may be a good idea to post the facts about the transport to any lists
you belong to so anyone thinking of using her as one of their resources
in the future can be aware of the horrible outcome of this run. Just
state the facts clearly and unbaisedly as you know them so you can't be
accused of slandering her. Anyone considering her services in the
future should know that they may want to think twice about it.

My deepest sympathies for all the heartache you have recently gone
through, it certainly is a test of your strength, but please think about
throwing in the towel. I'd hate to see the lady who so callously
disregarded the lives of the animals in her care be the reason someone
as wonderful and caring as you can no longer help those sweet innocents.

She isn't worth all those lives that would not in the future be saved by
you :)

Dear Patti

You have been
through so much with your beloved cats--much, much more than
me--that I would never presume to persuade you not to do what you
absolutely need to do for you.

But I can't help hoping that
when you've had time out for you, time to smell the roses, time to regain your
energy, recharge the batteries, that maybe you will eventually
reconsider.

It's angels like you that
restore faith in humanity when we despair that-- to borrow the phrase of
another listmember last week--the whole world has gone to hell in a
handbasket.

There are so few willing to
work on behalf of needy animals that it would just be so sad for them to lose
you too, especially when the reason for them losing you is someone who has
caused them great harm. It's a double whammy for the cats---they suffer through
this other person, and then they lose you too.

But I understand that you are
in a very difficult place right now. And you need to look after you, first and
foremost--that goes without saying.

Sudden, awful thought---I
hope you'll stay on the list?! You're such a very special person who has done so
much for so many years for cats in need and I for one can't bear the
thought of you going off-list. Just thinking about it brings tears to my
eyes.

Wish I could give you a big
hug---so sending you zillions of cyberhugs instead.
love and hugs,
Kerry

Belinda,

Regretfully, will you add dear, sweet, little Ellen to
the CLS as deceased. 8/24/05.

She just "gave up" late yesterday, and all I could do
was hold her in my arms thru the night, whispering reassurances to her that
although all 1.3 lbs. of her put up such a brave, determined effort to "fight",
it was okay for her to go to sleep and join the other fur-angels. She had earned
her "wings".  She  passed, quietly in my arms during the early morning
hours.

I am completely devastated with losing
her.
Such a sweet, tiny little baby, but she's struggled so
hard to stay alive.
She tried so hard, she had a determined
spirit for such a frail baby.
But she was just so small, so
innocent.
She just didn't have the strength to fight anymore,
and it was heartbreaking to look in her eyes & realize she'd just given
up.
For the short time she was with me, she definitely
stole a big piece of my
heart...

What a cruel fate, such an awful death, for her &
all the others that died senselessly because of the irresponsibility of her
"supposed" rescuer.
Yes, they were "spared" the horror of the gas chamber,
but for all these innocents to die such a "horrible" death due to the "transport
from hell", I wonder which fate would have been the lesser of the two
evils...

The heartbreak of all this is also NOT knowing how
many other innocents died from exposure to the still "UNKNOWN KILLER"
of the transported cats, all due to the failure of the person doing the
transport to be upfront & honest with all of us involved. And also how many
cats are STILL at risk because the while truth hasn't been
told???
Also, her sheer DISREGARD for the lives of
these babies by basically just cramming the 20+ cats into a small vehicle,
UNVETTED WITH NO PAPERWORK from the shelter, mixing litters,
crammed into carriers & the cardboard "temporary" carriers, like sardines,
without food, water or even a damn litterbox for the long ride , non-stop, from
Georgia to Pa., on one of the hottest, most humid days, then to Ohio, then to
N.Y., then finally back to HER home in Pa. (a 2 bedroom townhouse,
in which she already is housing 50 (Yes, FIFTY!!!), of her own
cats

AND, as if things couldn't be any worse, this
was her SECOND large transport from the SAME SHELTER in a two
week period!!

How in the hell could this be allowed to
happen???
This woman is NOT A RESCUER, BUT A MURDEROUS
COLLECTOR!!!

I apologize for my harshness, I am NOT an evil
person
But I am over-ridden with grief & guilt.  If
I had been able to think that afternoon, I should have called The Adams Co. SPCA
to the scene, but I just did not have my "wits" together..Regrets, I am
having a VERY difficult time DEALING w/ the reality & gravity of
the horror!

The SENSELESS loss of so many lives, the
unknown number of other innocents that are now in
danger.

Right now, I would like to put this woman in the trunk
of a small car on a hot, humid day, drive 600-700 miles, and then "toss" her in
a gas chamber...

I do not mean to offend anyone on this list. God
knows, I love you all and you all have been such a wonderful, supportive,
compassionate group of people, no doubt this list has always been my favorite
due to the fact of the "closeness" & support.
So, please forgive me, but I NEEDED TO
VENT!!!
I am totally heartbroken

Patti, I'm so sorry about Felix, Angel and Tyler - and to hear of
the horrible transport - my heart goes out to you. I'm glad these
babies have had you in their lives, and that you are doing this
wonderful rescue work. They will be with you carrying you through.
Prayers and good wishes coming for you and your babies, Gloria

Please add my Felix to the next CLS.
I have been contacted by the hospice that he passed peacefully,
apparently while sleeping.( I'm sorry to be so late with this, he
passed July 2. (He was non-positive ~ CRF)

Also, please add 2 little kittens that passed during/after a
"transport gone awry".
Long story, but I intervened in a transport (HORROR!!) from a
southern shelter and was presented w/ a small, female kitten,
deceased en route 8/16. I had her cremated and gave her the name,
"Angel", as she was a furangel already.

I also took four other kittens, and went immediately to vet.
Sadly enough, Tyler passed 8/18, quite suddenly, we suspect
distemper was the probable cause for the deaths from this
transport...
Ellen, the very sick kitten, (1.3 lbs., in this state it is illegal
to release a kitten under 2 lbs.!!), is hanging on, but we are
taking it day by day. But she tested neg. on first Felv test..
The other two kittens, Moonshade & Taylor appear to be doing
better, they have vet appt. tom'w. for thorough exam & testing.

Would you please add Felix, Angel & Tyler to the next CLS?
Also, add little Ellen, Taylor & Moonshade to the prayer list???
Also, please add Charity, a non-pos feral mom I trapped (was dumped
w/ her 2 kittens). She is non pos, as are her kittens, but please
pray that my attempts to "socialize" her will be successful.
And that I find good homes for her babies, Timothy & Thomas, who
have turned out to be little love-muffins. :)

Thank you so much, and I am sorry this is so long, but like I said,
I've had my hands full since my move.

Once again, my prayers go out to all that have lost a beloved baby.
In my heart I know we all will be reunited one day

Hugs to all,
Patti

Patti,

Is this the cat you got from Griffin/Spalding in Georgia?  If so I would really like to know who is responsible for these transports.  I might could do something about it from down here.  If you want to email me offlist please do so.  I will NOT use your name and will be discreet if you want me to.

Patti, pardon my French, but this really sucks! Damn it, I'm so sorry. I can understand your frustration and despair. It's hard enough dealing with this tragedy, without knowing it could have been prevented. Oh, and the heartache of knowing there are others out there that have been effected! Terrible. All this, caused by someone that calls themselves a "rescuer". I agree with Belinda, you should post about this. People need to know the dangers in dealing with this woman. Does she know the destruction she has caused? Could it be that she has no idea what she's done? Is there someone that can contact her, someone that might have a cooler head than you right now, to help her understand what has happened because of her thoughtless, callous behavior? I'd want to make sure she understands what has happened, and why, first. There are so many
well meaning idiots out there... If she refuses to stop, or change her ways, someone needs to stop her. My dear Patti... I think you may be right. I think you may need to step back again, if for no other reason than to preserve your sanity. You have to protect yourself as well as those that come to you. I won't talk about you "giving up rescue", I know that will never happen completely. But, a smaller scale is definitely in order. I feel for you so much! I know how hard this is on you. We love them all so much. I wish there were a way to help you through this pain. Please try to take sanctuary in the love that is flowing to you from Heaven.
