The fjord Herald
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] I received the Herald today and read through some very nice articles and well written passages and beautiful pictures, however when I came to one article in particular Training a bit less, voice only fjord. I have to say that It gave me very uncomfortable feeling in many comments such as horses not wanting to please humans (which I have found to be just the opposite especially with the Fjords) and if this method were tried by many of the people that I have seen, well I think that I would stay off the road and under safe cover. Using force and discomfort as a primary training method is only saying to me that we as humans have not evolved very far. As stated in this article the author only has experience with negative re-enforcement. Well I must say that a good boy or girl and a lot of good pats a Fjord will do anything for you, even leave their beloved food pile to perform. So I am rather disappointed with this article. I do not feel it is sound and safe as method that should be advocated in a breed magazine..I am interested in how everyone else felt and is this really an appropriate place for this sort of thing? Soren's First Progeny and New Arrivals!
This message is from: "Michele Noonan" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> We are so excited about Soren's first two progeny. Dan and Solvi sent me pictures of the little Grey colt, OFI Emil. He is the cutest thing I have ever seen. Then we anxiously awaited Misha's mare to foal and from what I understand the filly is still color pending. Soren is actively looking for a few more mares for the spring and then he has to concentrate on training because he is going to be evaluated in September. I can't believe how much he has filled out and grown in the last year, he doesn't look like a baby anymore. He turns 4 in June, what a big growth year. We are STILL waiting Two River's Pen Jente (Penny) to have her Anvil's Morgen baby. I can already tell this baby is going to be a busy one. Most of the time we can barely tell the baby is kicking or moving. Not this foal, I can see it move from my bedroom window. It wants out! Next Britta l is due on April 26th, also with a Morgen foal. This one will be very big. We are also happy to announce we have two grey fjords arriving on our farm in the next two weeks. Norway View Gina (bred to OH Stone). Gina is coming from Wisconsin next week. Also OFI Skogen, Soren's full sibling is coming from Olivia Farm the first week of May. It's crazy as usual around here. 70 degrees one day and snowing the next. See you all at the PNFPG Spring Meeting Michele Noonan Wild Hair Ranch Stevensville, MT (4 hours from Spokane, WA) The FjordHorse List archives can be found at: http://tinyurl.com/rcepw

Fjords in therapy programs
This message is from: Shannon Kaplan <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> We use only Fjords in our therapy program. The characteristic unflappable nature is priceless. Our goal initially was to develop a breeding program so we have a training and health history on each individual, and only sell the ones that aren't cut out for this type of work, however with the glut of unwanted horses in our country, it didn't seem ethical to add to the numbers, at this time. We are always looking for solid minded Fjords. This breed is unmatched with a heart for what they do. Shannon Chehalem Mountain Ranch and Therapy Riding Center Inc.
