Re: [Freevo-users] No sound when recording - Oh So Close!!
the files in there are two scriplets for the setmixer application and a script to use as a substitute for the VCR_CMD. These scriptlets not only unmute the linein on the sound card but set the recording source to the line in. The second part is key because most sound cards default to using mic in as the recording source. I am looking for an aumix command line to do this to add that page. Also need to provide an example for a sblive which needs another variable set to a volume. I believe its called IGain. Thanks. That very nearly helps. It would definitely help if I had a clue. It looks like using btaudio would be preferable, but it is not yet compatible with mplayer or mencoder. That leaves me with the cable running from the audio out on the TV card to my LINE_IN. What I get from the instructions is that I need to run a script to turn the sound on before I start recording and another to turn it off when I'm done. This is where I get a little lost. The example scripts that are available don't appear to actually be scripts (don't start with #!...) so I don't know how it use them. There is a record script, but I don't know how it implement it. [Freevo-users] No sound when recording - Oh So Close!!
I can almost taste a functioning freevo box now! I'm hoping you folks can help me get over the last hurdle. I've installed freevo 1.4.1 on an AMD Duron running Redhat 9.0. I'm using a winTV card (NTSC 38101 Rev B410). I made changes to local_conf.py and now I can watch TV and get sound. Here are me general settings AUDIO_DEVICE= '/dev/dsp' AUDIO_INPUT_DEVICE = '/dev/audio' MAJOR_AUDIO_CTRL= 'VOL' # 'VOL', 'PCM' 'OGAIN' etc. CONTROL_ALL_AUDIO = 1 MAX_VOLUME = 100 DEFAULT_VOLUME = 80 # Set default volume level. TV_IN_VOLUME= 20 VCR_IN_VOLUME = 20 DEV_MIXER = '/dev/mixer'# mixer device ` Mencoder install is dev-CVS-040124-05:24-3.2.2 I can now record programs with freevo and from the command line, using /usr/local/bin/mencoder -tv driver=v4l:input=0:norm=NTSC:channel=22:chanlist=us-cable:width=320:height=240:outfmt=yv12:device=/dev/video0:adevice=/dev/audio:audiorate=32000:forceaudio:forcechan=1:buffersize=64 -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vbitrate=1200:keyint=30 -oac mp3lame -lameopts br=128:cbr:mode=3 -ffourcc divx -endpos 1249 -o /home/freevo//01-31_23:00_The_Red_Green_Show_-_.avi tv:// The main problem is that there doesn't appear to be any sound recorded. I can play the file back either with mplayer or inside freevo with the same result. I've tried several combinations of audio devices, but still can't get any sound to be recorded. Either that or it's too quiet to hear. I had to up default volume and lower the TV_IN_VOLUME to get it to a reasonable level in the first place. Another less bothersome problem is that the image seems rather dark when watching TV and even darker in the recorded file. I've been poking at this for a while. Now that I'm so close, it driving me nuts. Thanks for all the help I've received along the way. Re: [Freevo-users] tv_grab_uk

I guess they may have changed something after noticing being suddenly hit by users of the old tv_grab_uk. Download and get the latest xmltv cvs, get it working.. edit /usr/bin/tv_grab_uk_rt search and replace radiotimes.beeb.com to radiotimes.com And it should work, although I don't get any program info.. You may wish to reconfigure it, as the latest cvs has a whole bunch of extra channels. (Liberally pinched off a mythtv posting..) Ok, since you found out where the problem was, I can give you one more advice: your problem got solved by doubling the number of lines captured (480 vs 240), but the other change (640 vs 320) is irrelevant. It's ok to capture directly to whatever horizontal res you want, since that's analogic signal, but the number of lines matters. Bottom line: you could try capturing at 320:480, and then scale to 320:240, so scaling only in one direction, saving cpu cycles. Better yet would be capturing at 320:576 (full pal) and then scale to whatever. > Anyway tanks for giving me the solution! > -- > Groetjes Japie > > > > --- > The SF.Net email is sponsored by EclipseCon 2004 > Premiere Conference on Open Tools Development and > Integration > See the breadth of Eclipse activity.
