[Freevo-users] freevo on win32
Hi, I've got freevo 1.5 running on winxp. I did just the bare minimum to get it running (mp3+gui). It maybe interesting for someone who wants to make a real win32 port. http://www.members.tripod.com/mvo76/ Martijn. (second-post, membership was not activated) __ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! And I guess the config file should be written in a 'plain-text' format, like XML, so Freevo can reload it while running. Eric XML would be fine if ALL configuration could be done via interface, some setup. It is better format for our Freevo machines ;) However, if _some_ parts of config should be done still in vi (nano, ..your fav editor) it would be IMHO better to keep the config file the way it is now - more readable for humans. Also, if someone omits/accidentally deletes XML closing tag for example...all XML parsing goes to hell. Why not do a hybrid, exactly the way local_conf.py overrides the globals? Have an XML file that is loaded after the local_conf.py and can override it. This is where run-time configuration changes would be kept. Yes, that what's I would prefer. We would load a basic setting (like freevo_config.py), after that the local_conf.py and than the xml runtime changes (or the other way around). About the coding of this: feel free to do it / send patches. I have no time for this right now but it is a big step we need at some point. To make it work very easily: the xml file just adds the config variables (see src/freevo/system/cache.py in current cvs). Example: freevo_config.py: AUDIO_PREFERED_PLAYER = 'mplayer' xmlfile: audio var name=prefered player type=stringxine/var /audio The parser will set config.tag name_var name with s/ /_/, in this case the config reader will set config.AUDIO_PREFERED_PLAYER = 'xine' Someone willing to do this? It's a very good place for someone to start coding because you don't have to understand much of the freevo code to do it. Re: [Freevo-users] Re: make problem with CVS
i I'd like to test the current CVS-version of freevo. First of all a warning: current cvs is only for testing, not for daily use. The tv part is still broken, the rest should work. Don't worry, I just was curious... The CVS-snapshot that is linked from the home page seems to be outdated, so I decided to load the code directly from CVS. When doing make, I got the following error: (cd lib/pyimlib2 ; make ) make[1]: Entering directory `/home/tanja/Zeug/FreevoWork/CVS/freevo/lib/pyimlib2' python setup.py ^^ :) build Traceback (most recent call last): File setup.py, line 1, in ? from distutils.core import setup, Extension ImportError: No module named distutils.core The distutils are part of Python. So maybe you use SuSE or RedHat and there is an extra package python-devel or so? Oh...hm... you are right there is a extra package pytho2.3-dev for Debian. But unfortunately that's not all, what is missing. The version of libimlib2 in Debian/sid is to old... Okay, thanks for your help. I guess I will forget that for the moment... By the way, freevo is great. There are still some things missing, as far as I can judge that at the moment, but on the other hand there are already lots of very useful features. Keep at it! [Freevo-users] Plans for mouse input?
Are there any current plans to implement mouse input in Freevo? Has anybody ported the example from the wiki to the current CVS code? [Freevo-users] Freevo Help!
I know I have a basic question but I am not sure how to proceed. During the freevo setup, the install mentions there will be a /etc/freevo directory created. This does not happen for me! freevo.conf gets written to ./root/freevo..Am I doing something wrong? [Freevo-users] some dvb questions: How to config TV channels with no epg data (TV.xml), How to configure two record tv cards (dvb,pvr250) ?
Hi freevo users, I bought a cheap dvb card (twinhan) and it works fine so far. I fetch the xml epg data every night and replace the old TV.xml automatically. I want to configure the TV module with more channels than in the TV.xml is included (some channels don't have epg entries). Is there a simple solution or have I to insert the channels in the TV.xml everyday and local_config manually ? second question: I own now the pvr250 for analog tv and the dvb-s for digital recordings. I want to record with both cards and configure the recordserver, webserver and freevo record scheduler with both cards. Each time I select a recording I want to choose the specific card or the card should be automatically recognized if the channel is only configured for one card. Is this already possibly with freevo (and video groups) or possible in future time ? third question: I noticed that mplayer has a great osd menu (has to be configured in menu.conf). With a dvb-mplayer config I can watch dvb-s live and also switch the channels with lirc or the keyboard (h,k) and ofcourse I have a dvb channel menu with the osd menu. last Question: If I watch TV and the recording starts, will freevo automatically close the TV live program and start recording ? BTW live watching and recording on the same transponder and different polarisation is possible and would be nice. thanx for answers, Thomas PS: I noticed that vdr will be the better one for dvb, but I have a budget card and want to use it for recordings and sometimes watching tv. Freevo is now nice at my box and well configured - I don't want to change to vdr or use the plugin (and the softmpeg output plugin is in development status). myconfig: XP1700, 384MB Ram (DDR266), KT266 Board (matx) Matrox G400 framebuffer tvout twinhan dvb-s VisionDTV Plus Hauppauge PVR250 SB Live with digital I/O extension for optical digital output to my yamaha amp 2 samsung harddisk (120 GB,160 GB) 1 seagate system harddisk (80 GB) Kernel 2.4.27 (v4l2, i2c patched) with latest stable dvb modules --- This SF.net email is sponsored by: IT Product Guide on ITManagersJournal Use IT products in your business?
