Re: [Freevo-users] Constant audio when computer starts
Al, thats happened to me when the bttv or tuner id number is wrong in modules.conf (bttv misconfigured) i bet when u rmmod bttv tuner btaudio (etc) the audio turns off, and as soon as u insmod bttv again the audio comes back on? if so its the bttv module(s) config. play with modules.conf. regards, rohbags. Hi, I have almost every function of freevo working, and decided to work on my TV tuner card. Once I installed it and insmod'ed the modules, the audio is always on, whether or not I am watching TV. Any ideas? I have a diammond DTV2000 (Bt848) chipset, which I have plugged into the CD-IN on my on-board sound card (no other place to plug it into). I am running debian testing. My /etc/modules looks like: tuner type=2 bttv card=5 To turn off that part of the sound, I have to mute the CD-IN... which I am assuming is not the correct thing to do? Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks Al _ ninemsn Extra Storage is now available. 30MB of storage on ninemsn Groups - great for sharing photos and documents. Unfortunately not it starts playing even before bttv and tuner are loaded. I removed them from /etc/modules, rebooted and it still did it half way through boot up odd, isn't it? thats very odd, if it happened as soon as u turned ur pc on, id say hardware clitch, if its happening at boot time *some* sort of software/firware is activating the bttv audio, id guess anyway. does insmod'ing and rmmod'ing the modules make any difference to the audio? what about trying similar card/tuner (maybe just tuner #) numbers to ur card and re-inserting the bttv modules? lastly, maybe the automute bttv option will help (should turn off audio unless reception strong, may not affect ur problem cos ur card may think its tuned and being used) anyway, its interesting, let me know how u go, rohbags. _ Hot chart ringtones and polyphonics. RE: [Freevo-users] Constant audio when computer starts
thats very odd, if it happened as soon as u turned ur pc on, id say hardware clitch, if its happening at boot time *some* sort of software/firware is activating the bttv audio, id guess anyway. It seems to start after you first start recording from /dev/dsp, way after the modules are installed... then you can't stop it,even if you stop recording and unload modules. Haven't tried unloading sound modules, but that shouldn't be the solution. does insmod'ing and rmmod'ing the modules make any difference to the audio? what about trying similar card/tuner (maybe just tuner #) numbers to ur card and re-inserting the bttv modules? I'll play around with these, but so far I have been unsuccessful unless I specifically call the card type and tuner. lastly, maybe the automute bttv option will help (should turn off audio unless reception strong, may not affect ur problem cos ur card may think its tuned and being used) Doesn't seem to be an option in the version of the module I am using... :( anyway, its interesting, let me know how u go, Thanks for you continued assistance. I tried a few other things. I used an external cable and connected the output from the tv card to the line-in on the sound card. Same results, and recording from /dev/dsp still gets me nothing. Video comes through fine, even with the correct channel. I did once get it to work with the CD-IN jack, but I believe it was also playing out my speakers. Any more ideas?
