2021-08-04 Thread Justin Mclean
Hi,

-1 (binding) as package is missing DISCLAIMER, LICENSE and NOTICE. I can also
see that chardet is still a LGPL Category X dependancy.

I checked:
- incubating in name
- disclaimer is missing
- no LICENSE or NOTICE file
- no binary files
- all source files have ASF headers
- can compile/install

It might be a good idea to create a release checklist and follow that when
voting.

If you start another round of releases, please cancel the vote first.
it could be better to use rc2 name to specify the release candidate to
avoid this situation.

[WEBSITE] More Fully Move to Git

2021-08-04 Thread Dave Fisher
Hi -

See https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INCUBATOR-268

I plan to complete the move of many of the files that are maintained by
projects into an ASF-Pelican workflow like I recently completed for
www.apache.org and other websites including
httpd.apache.org

What will remain in Subversion:

1. podlings.xml
2. PMC chair runbook and reporting
3. Project yaml files. (This could be a follow on, but it will require working
with Whimsy development)

What will move:

1. IP Clearance - future clearance will be in Markdown.
2. Project Status - future project status will be in Markdown and Git. I think
that having it in SVN has been a real hinderance.
3. Clutch analysis - ASF Pelican has the ability to run scripts and generate
pages that will be rendered. This was developed for httpd’s security pages
which list CVEs from JSON source. The clutch analysis is python based and fits
this well. The main work here will be to source and read from the Project
Status pages in their new location.

There are three new branches where the work will occur:

1. ip-clearance
2. project-status
3. clutch-analysis

If you wish to follow the work and make comments then please monitor those
branches. I will follow up when it’s time for others to test the new markdown
format and procedures.

Regards,
Dave

[jira] [Created] (INCUBATOR-268) More Fully Move to Git

2021-08-04 Thread Dave Fisher (Jira)
Dave Fisher created INCUBATOR-268:
-

Summary: More Fully Move to Git
 Key: INCUBATOR-268
 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INCUBATOR-268
 Project: Incubator
  Issue Type: Task
  Components: git, ip, status, subversion
Reporter: Dave Fisher
Assignee: Dave Fisher

Move the following processes more fully into Git.
 # IP Clearance
 # Project Status
 # Clutch Analysis

I've recently been involved in the development of ASF Pelican
([https://github.com/apache/infrastructure-pelican/)|https://github.com/apache/infrastructure-pelican/]

We now have the tools needed to move each of these processes into they own
branch within the repository.

For IP Clearance and Project Status pages I have a working xsl file based on an
old anakia2markdown.xsl from Forrest which fully converts the xml files to
GitHub-flavored markdown.

I'll start with the Project Status files.

+1 (binding)

Downloaded, checked signatures, built using “./mvnw clean install -DskipTests"
and Java 8 on Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS. Followed build instructions in README.md.
Checked LICENSE, NOTICE, DISCLAIMER; ran RAT.

Note: It’s nothing to do with this release, but before you go 1.0 I think you
should remove the “a lot of things may be broken” language from README.md.

Re: [MENTORS] Report timeline for August

2021-08-04 Thread Dave Fisher
Hi Justin,

Pinot graduated so it seems you will need to remove it from the report.

No one has updated podlings.xml to indicate the graduation.

https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/incubator/public/trunk/content

podlings.xml:

Pinot is a distributed columnar storage engine that can
ingest data in real-time and serve analytical queries at low
latency.

Re: [VOTE] Release Apache ShenYu (incubating) 2.4.0 [ROUND 2]

2021-08-04 Thread Justin Mclean
Hi,

It’s recommend that (P)PMC members write down what they check when voting, but
you will see some variation from project to project on this and some TLP don’t
do this at all. It also recommended that you encourage your mentors to vote and
get mentor votes on your releases, but it’s not a requirment, a release only
needs 3 IPMC +1 votes (with more +1s than -1s) to be made a release.

Kind Regards,
Justin

I would be glad to change the result from 12 +1 votes to 6 +1 votes if the
rest 6 votes are invalid.
Before that, I'd like to make sure whether the rest 6 votes are invalid or
not. In the
implications of voting[1], there's the statement of how to deal with
someone's vote
does not appear to meet the commitment. Does it apply in this case?

Thanks for your clarification. I have started contacting our mentors.
