gnome-menu-editor release imminent

2005-04-09 Thread Christian Neumair
I'd like to do a gnome-menu-editor release this weekend. You may want to
update/add your translations now.
Thanks for your efforts! :)

gnome-menu-editor release imminent

2005-05-05 Thread Christian Neumair
Dear translators.
I'd like to release the next gnome-menu-editor version (0.3) on Sunday,
2005-05-08. I'd appreciate translation updates, which are necessary due
to my recent commits.
Thanks for your efforts!

It's not on this page:
http://l10n-status.gnome.org/gnome-2.10/vi/desktop/index.html
where do I find it?
Sorry to be ignorant about this: my team co-ordinator just pointed me
at this page and said, Go for it.

For anything not belonging to core GNOME desktop, they are on this page:
http://l10n-status.gnome.org/HEAD/vi/

You can find gnome-menu-editor under "extras" section.

My next cvs problem (sorry): there was no Vietnamese translation for
this file, so I copied one of the existing translations, changed its
filename, and edited the fields. cvs did not like this.

I've sent the translation directly to the maintainer, since my cvs
problems look like being long-term, but I would like to know how to do
this. There are many files which have not previously been translated
into Vietnamese, so I need to know how to do the first one.

Sorry to keep dumping all these problems on you: I'm starting to think
it would be quicker, and waste less time for me, if I printed the
translations out and sent them by snailmail...

When there is no translation for the particular program, I usually take
the pot file from the http://l10n-status.gnome.org

Also there is usually no need to merge translations by hand (and
download the sources, and generate the pot file). The files in
translation stats pages have been already merged.

You obviously haven't really come across more advanced CVS commands. You
may be interested in [1], section "How to add a new translation".

Thankyou for the reference, Christian, but I'm not able to handle any
more new information at this stage. With luck I may be able to, later.

Fortunately, as Priit reminded me, I can get the .pot files from my
l10n page. Many thankyous to the people who must have worked so hard to
set up those pages, and their access to data. :)
