Dear Joaquim,

I invite you to read your posts again. I find them rude and dyslexic.

Not very sure what type of school or university teaches one to write thus
and expect much - just because it was asked.

May I suggest the following:

a: Give the individual concerned (in this case, Mr. Eduardo Faleiro, and
now ...Dr. Mesquita) an advanced written brief of the problem, so that he
can research the matter appropriately and have a reasonably informed answer
to provide you.

b: It is rude (also) to just pop up (in ambush format) a question, and
expect a solution..in a criminal law matter; the alleged Filipino
success notwithstanding.

c: It is infinitely rude to address NRI Commissioner Dr. Wilfred Mesquita,
in an email as "Mesquita". 'Dear Mr. Mesquita' would have been appropriate.

d: While I understand that all of us make typos, your posts could do with a
serious 'spell and language checker.'

Now this is my final post on this matter. I have NO particular
interest in debating this matter further. [You have won the debate]

If I may, I will leave this topic with the following suggestion:

You may consider [1] the present unnecessarily antagonistic approach or [2]
a more circumspect and reasonable approach which entails "making a case"
and working towards a resolution (if it is possible).

Whichever one you choose, I wish you and yours very well.

1: Don't get into behaviour which is avoidable and illegal.

2: Use the time to save money and develop extra skills.. and

I fully agree with JCs points about how to interact. There should be no

My point about how we are perceived, alludes heavily towards how Christians

nothing that can be done about this, except chalk it down as experience and
use the knowledge the next time around.

India and Indians have moved on to a place of mind that says accept us, but
without the basic given on offer the civilizations we ape. We have come
later to the game, and do not want anyone to tell us how to conduct
business. A lot of is true; forget the Enlightenment, and in a way rightly
so, but at least establish our counterpart of something similar instead of
pointing to some text which suggests that life is all an illusion. The
absolute and the relative is indeed one but not meant to be thrown in
anyones face. Thats Consciousness 101. Nothing is a given, and that goes
for extending courtesies, forms of integrity, loyalties to nation as well
as its citizens. Philosophers to this day stretching way back into
antiquity have been pointing out there there is very little loyalty!

There is deep strife in our being, the vociferousness in almost any
engagement; but, we have come of age, a time where we are
fragmented--meaning, we have become of another age--cruder. Meaning is
assigned only to things and events that one aligns with, and that aligning
has to do with what is mine, and what works for my tepid brian, not within
the spirit we profess to espouse--whether be it in belief, professionalism,
or in being. That spirit/Spirit can be anyone from Gandhi, Godse, Savarkar,
Bhagat Singh, Maulana Azad. We take their names, but do not understand the
spirit of their times, and hardly even relate to their spirit. But yet we
talk India, and yet more we believe that we have substance.

Dear Joaquim,

While drafting this response, I have taken the liberty of deleting the
rest of the digest which accompanied your post.

I have known Dr. Wilfred Mesquita for many years. He is indeed, a very
cordial and well 'well traveled' man.

Not very sure what he will be able to do wrt legal matters in the UAE.

My only advice to my brothers and sisters in that part of the world,
is as follows: Know why you are there and PLEASE stay clear of
avoidable problems like Driving Under the Influence, and Violent acts.
While you are there, save some funds, upgrade your education and
skills (esp writing and communication skills) .and then ...
leave.

Not very sure that India (leave alone the NRI commissioner or Embassy)
has any leverage over UAE in such matters.

Just as an aside, some years ago, a first cousin of Dr. Mesquita died
tragically which sitting in a parked car.in that part of the
world. A high performance car came and smashed into his parked car.The
prevailing reasoning (for want of a better word) of the bystanders was
that the victim (who was employed there) had NO business to be in the
Dubai - (presumably) because he was a Indian. I doubt the police ever
came to investigate.

Even so, I wish you and your cause well.

[Goanet] New NRI Commissioner

2012-06-08 Thread anesimo56

Dear all

All this while I was wondering who would be the new NRI Commisioner and
trying to guess some names and hoped that we will have someone who will
be approachable and NRI/NRG friendly as lot of Goans worldwide are
taking a keen interest in events unfolding in Goa and probably like to
get more involved. It was a pleasant surprise and a good one too. He is
Dr. Wilfred Misquita from Vasco. Wish him all the best in his new
assignment.

Cheers
