are there any Plugins that use a heuristic type detection, like cross checking number of head shots vs K/D ratio vs time? cross checking number of head shots vs K/D ratio vs time. That wouldn't be favourable with pro players capable of racking up a number of kills per second, let alone per minute plus not much of this helps while the OrangeBox engine calculates p2p damage client-side (ever been headshot 'around corners' or 'behind walls'?) In other news, Plugins allowing Server Ops to rebind player keys, issue any achievement to any client at anytime and mess with player statistics. -Original Message- From: Radical Subjectivist Sent: Thursday, September 09, 2010 7:52 PM To: hlds@list.valvesoftware.com Subject: Re: [hlds] A ton of cheaters even with VAC enabled are there any Plugins that use a heuristic type detection, like cross checking number of head shots vs K/D ratio vs time? One of your most accurate values in a system like this will be the accuracy value... that being shots/hits. But the best way to catch a botter is to spectate them. I really wish Valve would unbreak the TF2 sniper spectate for their zoom... that's annoying that your spectator view no longer zooms in when the sniper does. -Original Message- From: hlds-boun...@list.valvesoftware.com [mailto:hlds-boun...@list.valvesoftware.com] On Behalf Of dmex Sent: Thursday, September 09, 2010 9:00 AM To: Half-Life dedicated Win32 server mailing list Subject: Re: [hlds] A ton of cheaters even with VAC enabled cross checking number of head shots vs K/D ratio vs time. Re: [hlds] A ton of cheaters even with VAC enabled
OrangeBox engine calculates p2p damage client-side Yes, but this value is not taken as the real damage value. If this were the case, it would be possible to write a CSS cheat in which every bullet you fire results in 500 damage, through any penetrable material. I don't know what you were thinking, perhaps you got interpolation, latency compensation, and prediction methods mixed in there. Anyway, there are some very intelligent people that would take the time to write a (good) heuristic anticheat that minimizes/eliminates false positives, but that kind of stuff takes time. Time == money. DBlocker is a great plugin and I endorse it wholeheartedly. If anyone wants to seriously consider starting another serverside anticheat project, I am willing to help. Re: [hlds] A ton of cheaters even with VAC enabled
Do not mix snipers with cheats though as the game currently allows players to have regular non zoomed aim while the game thinks the player has zoomed in. Anyone using this certain script can shoot half loaded shots with the regular crosshair without actually even zooming in. I thought this is worth mentioning if you think someone is aimbotting and running around aiming like i just described. -ics - Alkuperäinen viesti - Sry this should have been quoted.
