[hlds_linux] Looking for feedback on what kind of configuration options are needed MySQL on a Source Admin tool (BAT)

2006-02-23 Thread Erling K. Sæterdal
This is a multi-part message in MIME format.
--
[ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ]
Hi,

URL to BAT: http://www.sourcemod.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2923
Please take in mind this is intended to provide basic features, i will not
have a 400 line config file with cvars. So if your liking is a cvar for every
posible feature/posible desire then you can stop reading now.

As im moving closer to this being done, i would like get some feedback on what
server operators would like to be configurable.

The basic of how i plan to do it:
Admin table
1) Admins uniqe id ( Steamid or IP )
2) Admin flags ( Not sure if smart to save the letters ( abcde ) or the num
value of it.
3) Admin name ( so others admin can see who the admin is if he is fakenicking )

What cvars would server operators like to see? execpt for :
username,password,database,table
Is anything else needed?

Like should BAT revert to users.ini ? Is pushing admin logs into the DB
pointless? Or would you like some other feature.
Please either reply on the list with feedback, or email me offlist.

Best Regards
Erling K. Sæterdal

Re: [hlds_linux] RCon modules for Ruby

2006-01-29 Thread Erling K. Sæterdal

I have a rcon lib writen in C# ( .net ) if someone wants it ( Writen by
Andrew Simpson ) , i was planning at one point to add ability to query
public info from the servers aswell so it would be a complete library for
source servers.
If there is a interest i could mirror it for other ppl to use.

Best Regards
Erling K. Sæterdal

Want a admint tool for Source servers ? Check out

Is there any other platforms that anyone knows of that have open
libraries developed for rCon?

Except for the obvious php, and the C++ lib that valve released

I'm working on one for .NET atm and am thinking of releasing it; however
I'm not sure if anyone else has anything similar.

Joel

(If this is inappropriate Alfred, just mail me personally and I'll be
sure not to do it again. I figured it might be of interest.)

The reasons for the postings earlier was that I finally cleaned up my
RCon classes for Ruby, and have released them.

The rubyforge project is pending approval, so for now, you can get
them here:

http://erik.hollensbe.org/code/rcon/

The rubyforge page will likely be: http://rubyforge.org/projects/
rcon/ - I'll update here if that has changed.

This release is tested on Linux, FreeBSD, and OS X. It should work on
Windows, but if someone with some time and a pre-configured ruby
installation has the time/interest to hack on it and get back to me,
I'd appreciate it. The code is under a standard non-advertising BSD
license.

For the sanity of those that aren't interested, please email me
directly if you're having any issues or wish to provide patches.

Subject: [hlds_linux] SZ_Getspace Overflow error steamID mixed

Hi,

First, we have a CS 1.6 server. Some informations :

---

[*] Processor : AMD Sempron(tm) 2500+
[*] Ram : 512 Mo
[*] Disk : 80 Go
[*] Distribution : GNU\Linux Debian testing/unstable
[*] Kernel : Linux 2.6.8-2-386
[*] Glibc : Release stable, Version 2.3.5
[*] Connection : 10 Mbits
[*] Hlds version : v.29
[*] Version : 47/1.1.2.5/Stdio 3327 secure
[*] Amx : 2005.1
[*] Metamod : 1.18p26
---

1- A lot of players on my server have this errors like :

[-] SZ_GetSpace: overflow on netchan-message the most often ;
[-] SZ_Getspace Overflow on netchan also ;
[-] SZ_GetSpace: overflow on Client Datagram sometimes ;
[-] SZ_GetSpace: overflow on -player pseudo-.

Finally, a lot of SZ_GetSpace: overflow error.

Since I've updated server to v.29. I think.
I'm remember that There was an update where this error appears often and
crashes the server.
The following version was to solve this problem. It's right to say that
this v.29 update is more stable than the others.
Now i've always this error but there are no crashs. Just a player
disconnection with as error Reliable channel overflow
Before with the same plugins, i've never been this error.

Also a lot a player say me that there are strange bugs before to have
disconnection ( not all the time ) as :
- sight disappears
- can't buy ( inactive menu )
- can't choose team on connect
- a large rise of loss / choke
- disconnection without notification
- others bugs

I must restart server and players have no problems after.

Sounds useful - but what I don't understand is why no admin plugins have
mysql support yet (mani doesn't count, the mysql support isn't
implemented very well for large userbases, it's more of just something
that generates the admin files from mysql in flat file format).

Larger server groups like us find maintaining lots of admins/reserved
slot access (we have ~2000 registered with reserved slot access on
adminmod), very difficult/slow without mysql support.

If mysql support was available it would be great, mani has far more
features than we need - just kicking/banning/reserved slots is all we
need.

Seeing that the other admin tools for source got very bloated for my needs
i made a admin plugin for our servers ( www.esports.no ). But it may be
that other server admins want a tool ikke this. Seeing how this tool is
used/welcomed il see if there is any point in maintaining a public
version of it.

Simple about from the plugin:
This is a admin tool intented for servers who want to administer public
servers, with adult admins. That dont want infitite number of
useless/abuse punishments. Just a basic admin tool for
banning/slaping/kick all in a handy menu.

Link: http://www.sourcemod.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2923
Remember this tool requires sourcemm ( www.sourcemm.net )
Also on also on a linux server you may need to run the beta version

For those who may want to try it, rememeber to read the first post in the
thread carefully. Also id like to point out that this will remain a BASIC
admin tool, so its not for all admins.

Re: [hlds_linux] Confused Steam-IDs

2005-11-27 Thread Erling K. Sæterdal

I was just curius if it could be related to any admin tool, but it seems not
to be the case if its wrong in the client console ( via the status
command ).
I wanted to see a steamid, to see if they where long. Since some admin
tools has a hardcoded limit of 32 chars ( But i think Alfred/Valve has said
the real limit is 34 ).

Hi,

Yes...the Steam-Ids are wrong in the status-screen too...

How can i post a example ? The only thing i can post is a piece of the

L 11/27/2005 - 14:18:43: -=]DT[=- jkl!
31969STEAM_0:1:9381317TERRORIST

Now JKL became a wrong SteamIDAnd it will not be validated by
Steam-Net

This is only a little piece of the chaosthis happens to 75% of the
players...

It is a big problem for us, because of the stats, bans and so on,
but the BIGGEST PROBLEM is, that players can became Ids from Admins,
and with AMXMOD they can now mess up the whole server

Very annoying...

We have released an update to the Half-Life 1: Engine. Run the

The update is optional and fixes a name exploit that could cause a

There are several similar plugins. Google will find one for you with best

Is amxmodx compatible with a Source server? It seems to be HL1
compatible only although I might be mistaken.

Cheers,

Re: [hlds_linux] VAC2 actually detecting banning?

2005-06-18 Thread Erling K. Sæterdal

He proberbly is, remember VAC2 was just enabled on hl1. The bans will most
likely be global in once its out of beta.

He only got banned from

Counter-Strike: Source
Half-Life 2: Deathmatch

He should have been banned from all games provided by steam in my view.

What more important issues? Looks like VAC2 worked well to me.

People don't care that you got caught for cheatingget it?

Rightclick Steam in the traySettings

Whats 'VAC Status' say?

Banned from some secure servers because of a cheating infraction.

Now here's the interesting part, Click for details up pops a window
informing me my ban affects the following games:

Counter-Strike: Source
Half-Life 2: Deathmatch

These are the only 2 listed, although all HL1 based games are installed,
but
not run in months (precludes a VAC1 ban, if that's your thoughts).

Surely this can only be the work or VAC2 then?

Oh, secondarily, the click here for details link on that window, even
after
logging in on the steam site, present a permission denied page.

Guys, move past my motive and onto more important issues, if you have
nothing
topical to add then don't, save us all some time.
