In a bold display of creativity, Florian Zschocke wrote: Netscout wrote: Is it possible to install a HL2 server on linux right now? In case you didn't notice, HL2 is a singleplayer game. So the answer is no. What sense does a server make for a singleplayer game? None. The multiplayer game on the Source engine is Counter-Strike:Source. Florian...I think the was *most likely* referring to HL2 Deathmatch, just like their was for the original HL. You don't have to be a dick about it. RE: [hlds_linux] HL2 server?
This is starting to bother me. At first I didn't care, but now I find I'd really like to see an HL2 Deathmatch like HL1 had. CSS is fine and all, but its CS, not HL. Though CS is based off HL its a seperate game, I want HL2 multiplayer so I can run around with my friends throwing barrels and stuff around. Speaking of which, when will CSS be updated to full retail release, with bots active and objects being able to be manipulated? > There have been reports of people being able to get servers running on > Windows at least... There have been reports of people being able to get servers running on Windows at least... There are bugs regarding player models and you have to move things around and of course I doubt that there is any kind of code for actually controlling the game or respawning, but the mechanism is there :-) --- Chris Adams Fragzzhost T (07005) 964 855 F (07005) 964 857 www.fragzzhost.com -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 18 November 2004 10:25 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [hlds_linux] HL2 server? i tried to start up a multiplayer server manually, by typing "maxplayers 32" in the console and loading a map. but then hl2 crashed to the desktop. sooner or later there WILL and MUST be one or more multiplayer mods. plase valve.. why couldnt you have just made hl1:source mp-compatible? martin -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Jan Marquardt Sent: Donnerstag, 18.
