Re: 3270 emulator for Mac?

Others have mentioned the web site for the Brown tn3270 emulator.
I use this program frequently on my Mac. It is OSX-native and it works
fine,
even with custom screen sizes, but it does have some rough edges and
bugs.
There are a few commercial offerings for the Mac as well, but I have not

I use VB/255 for in-house stuff; 80 columns is like
coding with mittens on. I have ISPF and
my terminal emulator set up to display 132 columns.

I leave SYSEXEC at FB/80, then use ALTLIB and
SYSUEXEC to access my VB/255 tool set.

For anything that goes to customers, I convert to
FB/80 so they don't have to deal with SYSEXEC

Re: EZA1551I - Unknown host: aa.bb.com

2007-03-19 Thread Mark Vitale
It sounds like your people and their people are telling you the same
thing in different words.
Site ftp.aa.bb.com is apparently a private host name, not known to the
public internet DNS system.
And so to reach it, you will have to add an entry to the host table on
your end that maps ftp.aa.bb.com
to its IP address. That IP address must be a publicly routable IP
address or
else you won't be able to reach it no matter what you do.

Re: ISPF SRCHFOR and member lists

2007-03-26 Thread Mark Vitale
This isn't working for me from a member list (but I can issue SRCHFOR
from DSLIST).
When I issue SRCHFOR from a member list, I get "Invalid command".
This is on our z/OS 1.4 system - I haven't tried it on other releases.
Is this because the feature doesn't exist in 1.4, or perhaps I'm missing
some TSO customization?

I have not tried any commerical 3270 emulators for the Mac
because the free one I use is adequate. It's included
in the list above, but here's a direct link:

http://www.brown.edu/Facilities/CIS/tn3270/

tn3270 does have its quirks, but the price is right - free!
It supports custom screen sizes, which is a very
important feature for me. It also has no problems with
Jaguar or Tiger; I have not tried it with Leopard, but
the web page claims it is compatible with Leopard as well.
