[ilugd] ACPI / acpid error
Hi I am getting this error message on a Thinkpad T 43 running Ubuntu 5.04 Can't access ACPI events in /var/run/acpid.socket! Make sure the ACPI subsystem is working and the acpid daemon is running Did a google search and found similar errors posted but no easy solution. Problem is I don't understand what the problem is because this is a recent error. Some of the links I checked were (or where I found a mention to this error) http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=51014&highlight=access+ACPI+events http://www-zeuthen.desy.de/~alorca/linux2onlaptop.html So can someone suggest what news to be done regards ram ___ ilugd mailinglist -- ilugd@lists.linux-delhi.org http://frodo.hserus.net/mailman/listinfo/ilugd Archives at: http://news.gmane.org/gmane.user-groups.linux.delhi http://www.mail-archive.com/ilugd@lists.linux-delhi.org/

May be you need newer kernel.. 2.6.9 onwards..? Don't know about older kernels. I got it working on Debian, FC3, and FC4. Never tried on other distros. Regards, -- Sameer N. Linpus is a a very minimalistic version of gnu/linux shipped with acer laptops. I suggest that you replace it with a mainline distro like Mandriva or something. However, Acer laptops have problems regarding acpi. There is an kernel patch called acer_acpi, but I could not get it working. So you won't be able to check out the battery status. If you do get it working, please let me know. -Devendra Laulkar. ___ ilugd mailinglist -- ilugd@lists.linux-delhi.org http://frodo.hserus.net/mailman/listinfo/ilugd Archives at: http://news.gmane.org/gmane.user-groups.linux.delhi http://www.mail-archive.com/ilugd@lists.linux-delhi.org/
