RE: suggestion need to design an email system.

2008-09-17 Thread Do Duc Huy
Hi,
I am in a same situation with you about system components. I have used
postfix+cyrus+ldap for email system since 2001 and system performance is
still good now. But I have to face with two problems with this system. The
first one is GUI for user and administrator. Squirrelmail was helpful enough
for user but I have to develop my own administration page for admin
purposes. Thanks for the link about Gosa you have sent, I will check it
later.
My question is about my second problem. It 's about antispam and antivirus.
I have used amavis for spam and virus filter. This can block virus very well
but it have no effect in blocking spam mail, I think.
So is there any one know about other opensource spam filter products which
work fine with postfix+cyrus+openldap and helpful in antispam

Thanks in advance

I really don't understand your question. Cyrus store an email in an
individual text file. The name of this file is numbered and its content is
different from unix mail content.

Re: question about quota

My system was in this situation and my solution is donnot use trash when
delete mail (ofcourse when your mailbox is overquota). Onother way to avoid
overquota status, send warning message to user when their mailbox approachs
full status.

I have problem using quota.I have set the mailbox
quota to 10M. When the mailbox is over the quota,
then it will return the error message to postfix.
But when The mailbox is 9.6M, it still can receive
a mail which size is 2M. Then the mailbox becomes over
quota. But now there 11.6M in the mailbox, it will causes
many troubles. For example, I can't move the mail to
trash fold because of over quota. How can I avoid this
situation?

Mail notification system with cyrus

2002-10-16 Thread Do Duc Huy

Hi all, can you help me?
I 've used postfix and cyrus for my email
system. Now, I want to create a mail alert system to notice user when they
have new mails. I 'll create a deamon run in mail server and user 'll have a
client running in their system. But now, I don't know how to get exactly
information about new mail comming in email system. I 've used two solutions
below but each solution still have some weeknesses.

1. The first solution, my deamon will connect to
imap server and get information about new email for each account. This solution
give correct information but it make system to slowly.
2. The second solution, I use forward method of
postfix and forward a copy of new email to alert server. This solution is
greate, but some time, the information I have was not correct, for example, when
an account was over quota, there was no new email can be received but the coppy
one still forward to my deamon, so the deamon notice user "you 've got new mail"
while nothing "new" in his mailbox.

Does any one have another solutions for this
system. Thanks for any idea and instruction
