Why the heck is this stuff about insert-shift R working for everyone else, but not for me. I am using Jaws 7 with XP home, OE 6 and IE 6, haven't installed 7 yet. So why is this working for everyone else but not for me. I've tried doing it from the message list view, from the preview pane and inside an open message. Anyone have any ideas? [JAWS-Users] Re: jaws hot key question
Hi Victor, There seems to be some confusion here. Control + R, and Control +shift +R, are Outlook Express keystrokes, and are for replying to sender, and replying to all, respectively. The Jaws keystroke for replying privately to someone on a list, is user defined, and can be changed from the script manager. [JAWS-Users] Re: jaws hot key question-outlook
Donnie and everyone else here on the list, when you reply to this you reply to the users list not to the person posting for they are posting to the list as it shows up like this is the header of the email [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Donnie Parrett] therefore you reply to the list not the individual person from within Outlook with the keystroke Alt+R If I want to pick out the individuals email address in the header I get into the body of the message and Shift Tab (going backwards) through the email until I hear the from in the header and towards the end you can pick up the person's email address. From there you can do a Shift+ left or right arrow to highlight the individuals name then Ctrl +C to copy it from there you can paste it anywhere, much like spit wads in high school. I am stopping there for I don't really want people plucking my email address out so they can add it to their Daily devotional spam lists Bob the non board moderator - Eliminate annoying spam! [JAWS-Users] Re: jaws hot key question-outlook
All right folks before anybody including me has a stroke today here's the deal. In version 7.1 and above the shift+insert+I keystroke is included. In version 7.0 the script is included but the keystroke needs to be added in manually. Next control+r is not a JAWS keystroke at all, what it does is reply to sender which in this case sends your message back to the list. Now say for example if I send a message to Donnie and carbon Patty and if either of them would like to reply to both of us then they would use the control+shift+R key combination. That would send a message back to me and the other person as well. This would work no matter how many people are involved in this sinarreo. Now when anybody is ready to add in the before mentioned keystroke look up on the tips and tricks page because the instructions have been up there for quite a long time already. If the list is set up so that the control r will reply to the entire list, and you only want to reply to the sender of the message, then you would use a insert shift r to reply to just the sender of the message. Thanks for the explanation David. Like I said, I couldn't understand why the hotkey wasn't working for me, and with your message, now I understand that it is only available from version 7.10 and on. Hi David, So are you saying that the instructions are up on the homepage to set up a keystroke that will allow a person to send a message directly to a person, as opposed to the list that the message is being sent on behalf of? I am very interested in this keystroke as it would help me in my moderator duties on some of the other lists I'm on. Occasionally, as you may or may not know, it is prudent, if not more polite, to respond directly to a person, to berate them, or, to be more politically correct, to guide them in their traversing of the e-mail list rules and guidelines, and this keystroke would sure help a great deal, and cut down on any unnecessary steps in the process. Well now I have a bit of a problem after testing that Control J command..all of the emails are grouped as expanded or unexpanded. That never was the case until I did that control J. I have checked the box to expand all grouped messages but would rather it go back the way it was before i even learned of the control J so is there a way to undo all this? So when I am up/down arrowing in my inbox all the messages will read as read/unread and not as expanded/unexpanded? [JAWS-Users] Re: jaws hot key question
Depending on how a list is set up, a control r will normally reply to everyone on the list. However, some lists are set up so that the control r will only go to the sender of the message and not to the entire list. In this case, you would use control shift r to reply to the entire list. If the list is set up so that the control r will reply to the entire list, and you only want to reply to the sender of the message, then you would use a insert shift r to reply to just the sender of the message. These reply options will work in Outlook and Outlook Express both. -Original Message- From: jaws-users-list@googlegroups.com [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Donnie Parrett Sent: Sunday, December 17, 2006 11:21 PM To: jaws-users-list@googlegroups.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] Re: jaws hot key question What is the difference between control+ shift + R and just control + R?
