RE: [JOYnet] SUICIDE

2002-07-23 Thread divine_luv

Dear JYs

I have been following some of the mails on Suicide and I wish to share my views as
under:

I remember the time when my aunt (mom's sister) had committed suicide when I was very
small. I didnt know then what Suicide was. I remember when I asked around why a person
commits suicide I was given to understand that 'suicide' was another form of 'being a
coward', a person unable to stand up to the challenges of life. For me the word
'coward' was very strong. Because no one likes being called a 'coward' or a 'darpok'.

It was only later as I grew up did I realise what actually facing life and it
challenges meant. That how easy it was to think of suicide when things didnt go ur way
as Welchy had mentioned in her mail.

For me I guess Committing a sin is like betraying Jesus. And we do read in the gospels
there were two Apostles who betrayed Jesus. Both were aware that what they did was
wrong. One repented and the other committed Suicide. The one who repented became a
great apostle and the other we know his fate when he committed suicide. There is still
hope in repentance and I guess if we commit suicide we lose out on this this hope.

Now I have read the other mails and I do agree that in light of some facts we should
share it with our spiritual fathers. I also do agree that we should not misinterpret
the Holy Scripture.

However I totally disagree that this should prevent us from sharing any such topics
out here. It may deter some. But on the flip side we can gain valuable knowledge and
experience from those whose faith are strong in Christ and have gone through such
experience as Father Thomas has mentioned. I remember my brother telling me how useful
the discussion of taking prasad which was shared out here was. On quoting
scriptures. I do personally disagree with the fact that we should not quote them at
all. How would we know what we are quoting is in the wrong context if we dont quote
them at all. And I do see that we have so many wonderful Word ministers here that
should we falter they are there to correct us. Right Ravi :)

in prayers,

Subject: [JOYnet] SUICIDE

Dear Friends in Christ Jesus,

I have been privileged to go through most of the mails posted on Joynet about
suicide. I have a strong feeling, now that, the time has come to put an end to
that particular. The reason being, the subject has gone out of our hands as I
could see mis-interpretation of the Sacred Scripture.

God has a particular reason for writing all those words in the Holy Bible and
if we are trying to give our own explanations, we are trying to conquer the
wisdom and intelligence of God the Father, which is quite impossible. By human
mis-interpretations we are also sending wrong signals to certain class of
people who are very much vulnerable to what they read in Joynet.

Our dear friend Ravi has already written about it.

Forgive me if I am questioning your liberty to write your comments on joynet.
At the same time, I have a suggestions to make; before we put our comments
with Scripture quotes on highly explosive subjects like suicide, murder, rape,
abortion, homosexuality, etc. on Joynet let us seek the advice of our
Spiritual Fathers as we are not sure in what context the readers will take as
they will not be that much Spirit filled as the authors.

Let us pray to the Holy Spirit to enlighten our wisdom amp; understanding,

With Love amp; Prayers,

Baiju.T.F.

[JOYnet] thought for the day

2002-07-23 Thread Varghese N S

Hold on to Jesus !

WHEN ONE PERSON RUINS YOUR LIFE
   ==

King David was hounded by Saul. The prophet Elijah was threatened
by Jezebel.

Paul was harmed by Alexander the metalworker.

Even Jesus was betrayed by Judas.

Has one person ruined your joy? Is there a name of a person, and
when you hear that name you feel defeated, worried, and
ruined.

Can one person ruin our life? Not unless we forget that One
person stands in the gap for us--JESUS CHRIST! He does not want
your life to come to ruin!
Praise the Lord.

I am excited, blessed and comforted to know that my Jesus, my
Friend, my Savior stands in the gap on my behalf to keep me from
being ruined.

We can only be ruined if we give in to the devil and reject the
Lord's salvation, satan seeks to destroy us forever.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come
that they may have life, and have it to the full(John 10:10).

So, what did God do so that we would not be ruined by the
devil?

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever

believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John
3:16).

Jesus wants us to walk in His power and strength here and now.

I will bring back my exiled people Israel; they will rebuild the
ruined cities and live in them. They will plant vineyards and
drink their wine; they will make gardens and eat their
fruit(Amos 9:14).

Jesus has a way of entering into our lives with the purpose of
rebuilding what has been destroyed. He restores what is ruined.

Today, you may feel ruined, defeated and depressed. Friend,
please hear me.

Jesus wants to keep you from being emotionally ruined now. He
wants to restore your emotional heartbreak.

I never know whom God is seeking to reach these Thoughts. But I
know,His message of restoration, life more abundant, eternal
life, is going out right
where He wants it to go. Will you allow the Words of Jesus, the
love of Jesus to reach deep into your broken heart?

CHRISTIAN, YOU CANNOT BE RUINED! YOU ARE GOD'S
PROPERTY!!!
===

Whatever your pain or heartbreak, Jesus will use it to shape you
and train you to effectively serve Him in helping others. Now,
pick yourself up and in the power and love of Jesus, let's face
another day!

When a supernatural force, such as the devil, makes a punching
bag out of you,and ruins your day, there is only One who is
powerful enough to deliver you--

JESUS CHRIST. Jesus delivers us from an old, tattered
punching bag to a child of the, dressed in royalty.

Dear Heavenly Father, I praise You for holding us up, when we
cannot stand.

Thank You for picking us up when we are down. In Jesus' Name,
AMEN!

Have a Blessed day!

[JOYnet] Questions

2002-07-23 Thread Rosemary Thomas

Hi everyone...

I know I've been rather quiet, (not that I'm otherwise noisy ) but I have a question
which I hope will be answered. I have been trying to figure it out but cant quite.
First, we had a discussion on rock music and how it was bad and how it was used by
satan worshippers and all that. I did go thru that. Now I have a problem. We sometimes
have parties here on Saturday nights, just to enjoy ourselves and let off all the
stress that builds up...(and believe me.. there is alot of work pressure). So we go
there and dance basically. I enjoy dancing and enjoy the parties. But at some pt, they
tend to put rock music. Since I dont listen to rock, I dont know the songs well and I
dont know what they are saying ie the lyrics... but maybe they are bad. Wld it be
wrong to dance to those songs and enjoy myself? Or shd I not when those songs are
playing? Pls give advice.

Guess that's all now... otherwise.. I must say Joynet is going strong and giving me
lots of input... thanks to everyone for that. Take care all of you and God bless.
Love, Rosemary (Goa).

[JOYnet] TORONTO MOVES INTO THE SPOTLIGHT

2002-07-23 Thread joseph v.j

Hi,

Following is an abstract got from net. Pl visit for more info on WYD.

http://www.ewtn.com/vnews/headlines.asp

http://www.city.toronto.on.ca/wyd2002/pressreleases.htm

http://members.rogers.com/wyd_2002/news.html

TORONTO MOVES INTO THE SPOTLIGHT

TORONTO, JULY 22, 2002 (Zenit.org).- As Toronto braces for the invasion
of over 200,000 people for World Youth Day, a top organizer drew
attention to the event's key purpose. What is important is that all the
young people who arrive experience an encounter with Jesus Christ, so
that these days may really be turned into the laboratory of faith, called
for by the Pope in WYD 2000 in Rome, said Basilian Father Thomas Rosica,
director of the organizing committee of this World Youth Day. On their
arrival in Toronto, participants are given a backpack of helpful items
for WYD. The backpacks were made by Canadian prisoners. Most of the
200,000 young people who have already registered are staying with
families or in schools and parishes, and some are using sleeping bags.
Cardinal Aloysius Ambrozic, archbishop of Toronto, will preside over the
opening Mass at Exhibition Place. John Paul II is scheduled to land in
Toronto at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Following a simple welcome ceremony, he will
go directly to Strawberry Island on Lake Simcoe, about 150 kilometers (90
miles) north of Toronto, where he will rest for a few days. The young
people will welcome him in Exhibition Place on Thursday. Catechetical
sessions, led by bishops in various languages, will take place in more
than 100 churches and civic centers throughout Toronto. During the
afternoons, young people will be able to visit Coronation Park,
christened Duc in Altum Park for the occasion. Priests will be
available for confession there. One section of the park will be reserved
for eucharistic adoration. In Exhibition Place on the afternoons of
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, there will be the Youth Festival
featuring artistic, cultural and spiritual events. There will be the
opportunity to participate in social service projects. On Friday, the Way
of the Cross will take place in several areas. The main procession will
depart from City Hall at 7:30 p.m. and will cross the city center along
University Avenue. The highlight of WYD will be the meeting with the Pope
during the vigil Saturday in Downsview Park, and the Mass on Sunday.

God Bless You --- Joseph V John -
