[dolphin] [Bug 423036] New: Specifying relative path during copy-paste in same folder results in glitchy FS state
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=423036 Bug ID: 423036 Summary: Specifying relative path during copy-paste in same folder results in glitchy FS state Product: dolphin Version: 18.08.0 Platform: Debian stable OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: korev81...@qkerbl.com CC: kfm-de...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Copying and pasting an item within the same folder prompts the user to specify a different name. Trying to specify a relative path by prepending ../ to the name puts the resultant files into a glitchy limbo state where they cannot be seen by most filesystem utilities. I don't know what else to call this. I was able to see the files by running "find" in the directory from which I initiated the copy. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Try to copy and paste an item such that the source and destination directories are the same. 2. A dialog box opens asking you to specify a new name. Prepend the name with ../ OBSERVED RESULT The files are copied but are in a glitched state and cannot be accessed by most filesystem utilities. EXPECTED RESULT The files are copied to the parent directory. [Falkon] [Bug 415664] Streaming Video from sites with DRM doesn't work.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=415664 TW3 changed: What|Removed |Added CC||white.tw...@gmail.com --- Comment #2 from TW3 --- Hi please read https://blog.qt.io/blog/2016/06/03/netflix-qt-webengine-5-7/ as far as DRM protected video content is concerned when using QtWebEngine based browsers such as Falkon. Falkon is licensed under the gnu gpl v3 and as such I would imagine is unlikely to ever officially support DRM encrypted content. The main reason for this is that the DRM software provided by Chrome is proprietary software which may damage your machine. This is because it does not have the wide scrutiny afforded by developing the software in the open, such as free and open source software. Google don't just license widevine to anyone and there is no free software alternative (and there likely never will be due to the fact it goes against the very founding principles of the fsf.) Beyond getting DRM to work in Falkon, if you are looking to watch Hulu.com or disneyplus.com then you will need to ensure that the copy of Qt that you have built Falkon against has proprietary codecs enabled. This is due to the very high likelihood the two services you mention are using h.264 or h.265 instead of webm. Pre-built binaries from Qt do not have this support enabled by default. You are expected to contact Qt for licensing or compile yourself if you already have licenses. To top all of this, GPU accelerated video playback isn't supported by Falkon. This is a current limitation of QtWebEngine. The CPU is used instead. To this end, on Windows - New Edge (Chromium based) is currently the best option for GPU accelerated video on Windows. It has DRM support, the proprietary codec licenses are already part of the Windows 10 OS and most importantly it has very good GPU acceleration. I can see that you have reported this bug against Windows CE. Windows CE isn't supported by Microsoft, so why would it be supported by a third party free software developer in 2020? Did you mean Windows 10 instead? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[plasma-pa] [Bug 392103] Enable switchOnConnect by default
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=392103 --- Comment #16 from Nate Graham --- As I understand it, the only remaining objection to doing this by default is that HDMI devices would be automatically switched to (whether or not they can play audio), which would be very annoying. The changelog for PulseAudio 14 indicates that HDMI are now excluded from switch-on-connect behavior: https://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/PulseAudio/Notes/14.0/ (https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pulseaudio/pulseaudio/-/merge_requests/225). [okular] [Bug 402017] Cannot save PDF when loaded file has been deleted
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=402017 --- Comment #30 from Sven Brauch --- Regarding other applications: most applications (e.g. kate) are not affected by this issue, since they just load the whole file into memory, and save it from their in-memory buffer if requested. Gwenview also seems to do this, even though it closes the file when deleted, it can still save an e.g. rotated image, apparently from memory (it has no open file handle). Okular is quite special here with its "stream from disk" behaviour, from a quick look around I didn't find another commonly used application doing this. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[okular] [Bug 402017] Cannot save PDF when loaded file has been deleted
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=402017 --- Comment #29 from Sven Brauch --- I was repeatedly bitten by this issue in the past as well and I don't quite get it. Can Okular not simply keep an open file handle for the document, which results in ext4 not removing the data from the disk, even if the original file is removed (i.e. like file handles always work on Linux)? As a fact, that is already the case (as I think Albert considered a few comments above), as you can see in lsof. Okular can also still load the data for not-yet-rendered pages, so the data is clearly there and okular can access it. If it is not possible to re-use that file handle from the save logic, maybe just create another one? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

This isn't ideal, but seems preferable to > letting user data be destroyed for the sake of a principle (making the fix > in the right place). The "principle" here is one of the factors, and not one of bigger ones. This behaviour (i.e. remove the temporary files when closing tabs or exiting) affects _any_ application launched by Firefox: okular, kwrite/kate, gwenview, you name it. Adding the same workarounds in any application potentially launched by Firefox and used by users means adding more complexity to those applications (like proven by the discussion in this bug, and my attempt 12 years ago, bug 163363), and even more so when each application usually handles file reading in its own way, making even harder to "share" a potential workaround. EXPECTED RESULT It would be nice if Kdenlive could know when not to start a new proxy clip because of low memory (or handle the out of memory error better, and try again when other clips are finished). Or if this is not possible, at least an option to limit the amount of simultaneous proxy clips. That also would work nice. [systemsettings] [Bug 421393] Gtk configuration is broken on Fedora 32
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=421393 --- Comment #13 from Pierre JUHEN --- (In reply to Mikhail Zolotukhin from comment #12) > The problem is, that DPI scaling was incorrectly applied to GTK application. > It is a fault of previous configuration. If you could, please check if you > can reproduce this issue on a fresh Fedora KDE Spin install. Also, did you > installed KDE on Fedora by yourself or used a Fedora KDE Spin? On a USB live key with Fedora 32 KDE respin, the problem doesn't occur. There has been a long time (> 5 years) I didn't do a fresh install on this PC. the two other ones are updates form a fresh install of Fedora 30. I think I upgraded from fedora 3, then 4, then plasma... I erased yesterday .config and .gconf, and did a reconfiguration, but It didn't solve the issue. Maybe I will do a fresh install, but I have to be careful... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[valgrind] [Bug 422677] PPC sync instruction L field should only be 2 bits in ISA 3.0
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=422677 Carl Love changed: What|Removed |Added Ever confirmed|0 |1 Status|REPORTED|CONFIRMED --- Comment #1 from Carl Love --- Fixed, tested by user, closing. commit fb6f7abcbc92506d302fb18a2c5fc853d2929248 Author: Carl Love Date: Tue Jun 9 10:42:03 2020 -0500 Power PC Fix extraction of the L field for sync instruction The L field is currently a two bit[22:21] field in ISA 3.0. The size of the L field has changed over time. Currently the ISA 3.0 Valgrind sync instruction support code sets the flag_L for the instruction L field to a five bit value that includes bits that are marked reserved the sync instruction. This patch fixes the issue for ISA 3.0 to only setting flag_L the specified two bits.
