[digikam] [Bug 471521] New: Allow assigning keyboard shortcut to existing feature: "Select all" + "Group by filename"
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=471521 Bug ID: 471521 Summary: Allow assigning keyboard shortcut to existing feature: "Select all" + "Group by filename" Classification: Applications Product: digikam Version: unspecified Platform: unspecified OS: All Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Albums-MainView Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: k...@i.yeb.me Target Milestone: --- This is a small feature request, that may be a simpler solution to solve other larger ones that have been going on for like 10 years. Currently (as far as I can still tell), there is no easy way to group/ungroup JPG + RAW pair files in Digikam. The feature is there, it's just incredibly tedious to deal with when you're navigating in and out of 1000s of folders. To the point where I can't even use Digikam to arrange my photos sadly, it's just too laborious to even bother. And I've been unable to find any other decent software to for this basic task, aside from Lightroom, is which overkill and too slow to be usable. Existing feature: When navigating into a single album/folder, JPG + RAW can already be grouped using these manual steps: 1. Select all the files with: ctrl + a 2. Right-click on one of the files 3. Click "Group" 4. Click "Group Selected By Filename" And basically the same 4 steps to ungroup. Requested addition: Under "Configure Keyboard Shortcuts...": * I can't see anything related to this in the existing options for assigning keyboard shortcuts. * Can you please add an action called something like "Toggle group all files by filename" This single tap of a hotkey would then do the same as **ALL FOUR** steps listed above. Including #1. This would be an amazing improvement in the usability of Digikam for anyone to shoots in both JPG + RAW (which I would have thought was a lot of people). Similar issues: There's another issue at: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=318357 (and a few others)... of course it would be great if they were implemented too. They want a regex, so there's obviously more advanced needs there. But my request here might solve it for a good number of us for now. After 10 years of waiting + bike-shedding, it seems like there isn't much hope that feature happening though. This maybe is easier for the devs to add first (seeing it's just a keyboard shortcut to features that already exist), and at least cover the most fundamental common use case of pairing JPG + RAW like other programs like Lightroom etc can. Toggle: Having this keyboard shortcut be a toggle (usable to un-group too) would be great too, because then you can quickly switch between grouped/ungrouped for those cases where you want to just work on individual files. Sticky across folders: In terms of whether this toggle setting apples: * a) only to the current folder * b) or it's a "sticky" thing that is remembered when you go into a different folder... My own preference would be (b). i.e. I hit my hotkey once, and then every other folder I navigate into is the same as that latest state. Because this is the mode I want to be in 99% of the time anyway. If there's a reason to just go with (a) for now (i.e. (b) would delay adding it), that's ok too. At least with a single hotkey it's quick to tap 100s of times in a sitting, but the currently needed 4 steps of mouse clicking are way too painful though, and it's the one-and-only reason Digikam is currently unusable to me sadly. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[plasmashell] [Bug 469445] Ever-growing ScreenMapping entry in config file makes plasmashell slow down and eventually crash
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=469445 pallaswept changed: What|Removed |Added CC||pallasw...@proton.me --- Comment #12 from pallaswept --- TL;DR the specific nature of this issue is two-fold: that not only desktop items, but also the CONTENTS of desktop items, are stored in this file; and that files which no longer exist are never removed. This results in an a) oversized due to inclusion of irrelevant items, and b) ever-growing when items are removed from the desktop but not the config file; single line of text in the config file, which inevitably eventually leads to a failure to load the file and subsequent crash of plasma. To fix this will require two parts, firstly to only track items directly ON the desktop, and NOT their contents, and secondly, to REMOVE items that are no longer present on the desktop. >EXPECTED RESULT > Is this config entry even needed? At least it should remove the files when > deleted from the desktop The config entry is needed to track the position of desktop items when using multiple displays. The nature of the problem here is that it doesn't track positions of items on the desktop, it tracks positions of items on the desktop RECURSIVELY. As in, if I create a folder on my desktop, that folder needs an entry here, but the 8000 source files of the app I'm building which are within that folder do NOT need to be tracked in this file, at all, ever. They never appear on the desktop. They just happen to be stored beneath the desktop folder. > STEPS TO REPRODUCE > 1. Put a folder with many files on the desktop (I used the wine source code) > 2. Look at the plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc config These steps given to cause the fault are not complete. I have a folder on my desktop right now with thousands of source files within it, but only the items I've positioned on the desktop are stored in this config file, and in this case, only the top folder is there. I discovered this bug after building the app, so something that happened during the course of building it made plasma aware of all the subdirectories and all their file contents, and created an !!8 megabyte long single line of text!! in my config file, specifying the desktop position of items that are never positioned on the desktop. Further to this, many of those files were created during the build, and then deleted, but the entries in the config file for them remained. Importantly, this shows that one could cause this failure by simply creating and removing a sufficient number of files on (or within) the desktop folder. As in, eventually, it will happen to everyone. It was only after rebooting that I discovered the problem, and thanks to Murphy's Law, the reason for rebooting was a system upgrade that included new qt libs, new plasma components, a new kernel, and a new graphics driver, so naturally I assumed one or more of those things to be the cause of the fault, and some 8 hours of troubleshooting later, I managed to pin it down to this config file. I restored from a copy from some time ago, and intended to compare it to the offending file so I didn't need to spend an hour reconfiguring my entire desktop, and Kate complained about the long line of text and then crashed, and Kdiff crashed on it too. Once I found the offending line (thank you micro text editor for being able to load it without dying), I removed it and only had to drag a few desktop icons to their rightful place. The experience was sufficiently unpleasant for me to create an account here and add some detail about the nature of the fault. I hope it is helpful and that this case is treated with appropriately high priority, as fixing it is no simple task. Shout out to BTRFS and snapper for saving me from a total nightmare reconfiguring everything. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kwin] [Bug 471517] New: Whole-screen diagonal-stripes glitch on external display with hybrid graphics
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=471517 Bug ID: 471517 Summary: Whole-screen diagonal-stripes glitch on external display with hybrid graphics Classification: Plasma Product: kwin Version: 5.27.6 Platform: Archlinux OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: wayland-generic Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: i...@nisavid.io Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 159935 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=159935=edit photo of the distorted screen SUMMARY With the default configuration running on Wayland, the entire screen's image on my external display is distorted in a way that makes that screen totally unusable and has an appearance of diagonal stripes from the top right to the bottom left. Looking closely at the distorted image and moving the mouse cursor around on that screen, it seems that each subsequent row of pixels is effectively being shifted to the left by some number of pixels. That is to say, perhaps all of the screen's pixels are being rendered, but the rows are all so misaligned as to be incoherent. Screenshotting with Spectacle doesn't capture the distortion. A photo of the distorted screen is attached. This system has NVIDIA Optimus hybrid graphics with Intel UHD Graphics 630 as the integrated GPU (DRI card0) and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Mobile as the discrete GPU (DRI card1). The internal display is wired via Embedded DisplayPort to the iGPU; there are Mini DisplayPort and HDMI ports that are both wired to the dGPU. The internal display (which renders as expected) is an AU Optronics panel connected via eDP and has a native resolution of 3840×2160. The external display (affected by this issue) is an ASUS ROG PG348Q connected via mDP and has a native resolution of 3440×1440. The issue manifests identically under all these conditions: • the display is connected via mDP, HDMI, or an mDP-to-HDMI adapter • the display refresh rate is set to any value between 50 and 100 Hz via KScreen • the two screens are rearranged in any manner via KScreen • the scaling factor for either screen is adjusted to any value via KScreen • either screen is chosen as the primary display via KScreen • the EDID for both screens is retrieved via Windows 11 and applied during initramfs startup via the drm.edid_firmware kernel parameter The issue goes away if I set the external display's resolution to anything below 3440×1440 via KScreen. Strangely, KScreen only offers 1024×768, 800×600, and 640×480—the same resolutions as are listed by /sys/class/drm/card1-DP-2/modes—whereas in actuality the display supports many other resolutions, as one would expect, and which xrandr sees just fine. Even more oddly, KScreen offers all the expected resolutions for my internal display, even though /sys/class/drm/card0-eDP-1/modes only lists 3840×2160. Setting KWIN_DRM_DEVICES=/dev/dri/card1:/dev/dri/card0 resolves the issue completely. That is, I have to configure KWin to prioritize my dGPU (NVIDIA) first and my iGPU (Intel) second. I do this by putting the following line in /etc/environment: export KWIN_DRM_DEVICES=/dev/dri/card1:/dev/dri/card0 Doing this in ~/.config/plasma-workspace/env/kwin.sh instead also works to fix the Plasma session, but I prefer to put it in /etc/environment so that SDDM also picks it up. I've configured SDDM to run on Wayland using KWin as its compositor; in this configuration, SDDM suffers the same glitch in the absence of the above setting in /etc/environment. KWin's default behavior seems to be equivalent to KWIN_DRM_DEVICES=/dev/dri/card0:/dev/dri/card1 (iGPU first, dGPU second). Setting KWIN_DRM_DEVICES=/dev/dri/card0 causes only the internal display to be operational (correctly). Setting KWIN_DRM_DEVICES=/dev/dri/card1 causes only the external display to be operational (correctly). The issue is not reproducible using Hyprland or Mutter with their default configurations. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Launch a Plasma Wayland session with the external display connected. OBSERVED RESULT The entire screen on the external display is severely distorted. The screen on the internal display is rendered correctly. EXPECTED RESULT Both screens are rendered correctly. [konsole] [Bug 443655] Konsole Shift+Left -> "Ambiguous Shortcut detected"
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=443655 --- Comment #10 from Jaggz H. --- Okay, after almost 2 years I finally found what was causing the ambiguous shift+left. (( We really need a more-helpful message than just "is ambiguous" )) The problem, in short, is that Shift+Left was creating a new tab, but it wasn't bound to it (it was bound to Previous Tab). (There are more details in the original report). So, it turns out it's because the "New Tab" options (which on my system show "Built-in", "NoBidi", "Shell"), had shift+left bound to Shell. I didn't have this toolbar displayed in the past and never saw that binding, and the "ambiguous" message did not help to locate where the other binding was. Removing the map from the Shell profile fixed the problem. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[digikam] [Bug 471492] Predefined or custom scripts
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=471492 --- Comment #7 from AB --- Last is valid point. I just did a test with 80 files using workflows from early tests. Process is bit more sluggish than I'd hope but quite ok. One thing I'm worried is behavior tab where you can possibly override something you could say definitely in the script, particularly overwrite/rename, but it appears that saving workflow saves this setting too. These are tasks that are repeated countless times and I'm wondering if it could be possible that this setting hidden could cause problems, but possibly not. I have to do further testing. However I suggest that these workflows then could be added to right click context menu for quick access and instantly run from there? Enabling this 'quick context menu access' could possibly be setting to enable it in "edit workflow" window? But thanks, I think this already helped a lot. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kwin] [Bug 465158] Line glitches with 125% and 150% scale on Wayland with either Blur or Background Contrast effects turned on
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=465158 --- Comment #44 from sebi.l...@googlemail.com --- I'm sorry to say this, but today I got Version 5.27.6 for my Fedora KDE and the lines are still there for me. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I still have them in several context menus. I think it is a better than before and I don't see them in the windows themself anymore, but only in menus. Also in some apps they seem to be gone completely, also in the dropdown menus (for example KDE Konsole), but in other apps (like Dolphin, KolourPaint, Gwenview etc.) the lines are still there. They are also really strong in the rightclick menu on the desktop. I mean it is not terrible, and maybe this is fixed with QT6 and Plasma 6 anyways? Then this is fine I think. But wanted to report it anyways, so in the future scaling isn't that bugged anymore. I'm using wayland with 150% fractional scaling. Committed on 27/06/2023 at 19:38. Pushed by ngraham into branch 'master'. Build cover file search strings from file name + extension So if we choose to support a new extension for cover files, we only need to add it in one location rather than multiple places. Also, the search for cover files that matched the name of the directory did not include files with "jpeg" extensions. This is now fixed. [plasmashell] [Bug 471515] New: CTRL + C sometimes not copying when image in clipboard
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=471515 Bug ID: 471515 Summary: CTRL + C sometimes not copying when image in clipboard Classification: Plasma Product: plasmashell Version: 5.27.5 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Clipboard Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: amub...@gmail.com Target Milestone: 1.0 SUMMARY Copying something after having an image in the clipboard will clear the clipboard instead of copying. This happens only when the clipboard history is limited to 1 entry. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Configure the clipboard history to have: - 1 entry history - See video for all other configuration, but I'm don't think that's need beyond the history depth 2. Press `PrtScn` key to open Spectacle 3. Click on the Copy button of Spectacle repeatedly. - This will alternatively put the image in the clipboard and clear the clipboard. 4. Click on the Copy button of Spectacle so the image is in the clipboard 5. Copy a text, this will clear the clipboard instead of copying the text 6. Try to paste, nothing is pasted as the clipboard is cleared (expected: the copied text should be pasted) OBSERVED RESULT See video in attachment that show how to reproduce. When the clipboard is cleared unexpectedly (when copying something while having an image in the clipboard), the copied object (image or text) can't be pasted (which is probably explained by the fact that it cleared the clipboard instead). EXPECTED RESULT When copying something while having an image already in the clipboard, it should be replaced with the newly copied stuff (even if the history depth is only 1 entry). https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=471492 AB changed: What|Removed |Added Status|RESOLVED|REPORTED Resolution|DUPLICATE |--- --- Comment #3 from AB --- I think BCQ seems too difficult to use frequently (unpractical) if after selection I have new window opened and lots of buttons there. I would like to be able to create custom scripts and have them available in context menu to directly access from album and other views. I would be ok if the scripts could be maintained like nautilus actions just by adding scripts to specific folder.
