I can't test your problem. I'm using the Spanish language version, and the
unique folder related widget is "Folder view". This widget shows, by default,
all Desktop files and folders and let me change the base folder to show. I try
your steps with it, but when I drag a file over any other folder showed in the
widget, does nothing (doesn't move or copy or ask nothing) and no crash.

However, it Plasma crashed when I was moving this widget to the panel (instead
of double clicking to add it).

It's all I can say.

[dolphin] [Bug 399871] New: folder browsing gets randomly slower without visible reason

2018-10-16 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399871

Bug ID: 399871
Summary: folder browsing gets randomly slower without visible
reason
   Product: dolphin
   Version: 18.08.2
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: view-engine: general
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: tempel.jul...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
When logging in into a KDE Plasma session and then starting Dolphin, browsing
through folders happens with instant speed.
But after some time, or at least sometimes, there is a noticeable delay when
opening folders inside of Dolphin. This happens at any path with any folder
content, also with thumbnailing completely disabled.
The delay is not terrible, but it's a bit annoying though. It should be
possible to always have instant browsing speed, as e.g. Thunar file achieves
this.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Well, that's the problem. I don't see any pattern how to exactly reproduce,
apart from being logged in into a Plasma session for a few minutes.

OBSERVED RESULT
Sometimes folder browsing is instant, sometimes delayed.

EXPECTED RESULT
Folder browsing should always be instant.

Hi,

Sorry for the late reply. I just missed the original bug report when it came
in. The backtraces all point to a compatibility problem with XCB on your
system. Which is strange, because I would sooner have expected issues with the
nvidia drivers.

I don't have exactly the same hardware, but with my setup (desktop with nvidia
card, ubuntu 16.04 and 18.04, wacom cintiq hybrid companion), I don't see
anything like this, but my cintiq is older and maybe does something different
when it comes to touch :-(

[Discover] [Bug 399869] New: No feedback on the update page when updating backends

2018-10-16 Thread Mayeul Cantan
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399869

Bug ID: 399869
Summary: No feedback on the update page when updating backends
   Product: Discover
   Version: 5.14.0
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: discover
  Assignee: aleix...@kde.org
  Reporter: mayeul.can...@live.fr
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
This is probably due to slow backends.
As originally stated in https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=385754#c22
Discover can be slow to display the list of packages that need updates. During
this time, it displays "no updates available", which is a bit misleading, as
can be seen in the aforelinked thread.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Wait for some updates to show up
2. Click on the tray icon -> display updates
3. Wait for a few seconds in front of the "no updates" screen (up to a few
minutes, especially on slow connections) for updates to be displayed

OBSERVED RESULT
Discover is slow to display the list of updates.
The user does not receive any feedback during this time.

EXPECTED RESULT
It would be nice to display something like "Discover is compiling the list of
updates" or "Discover is checking for updates", with a spinner.

Best would be to list each backend separately, and display its status: no
updates, checking, X updates, separately.

I tried the reverse, which may help reproduce the problem:

In a working system (Oxygen Look and Feel, Air Desktop Theme and Oxygen Icons,

problem appeared immediately. As soon as I hit "Apply", Plasma tried to show a
notification, and it froze.

I suppose that when I reset my profile, I didn't change the fonts, so this is
why I no longer see the problem.

By saying "no transparent effect", I mean it appears like when you turn off the

The build plugin?

The build plugin is designed to run any command-line command and then parses
the output. If it finds line numbers in stderr output it creates a list of
errors that can be clicked.

Does that help?

[dolphin] [Bug 399886] New: Undesired selection when returning to parent folder

2018-10-16 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399886

Bug ID: 399886
Summary: Undesired selection when returning to parent folder
   Product: dolphin
   Version: 18.08.1
  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: joaovm...@hotmail.com
CC: elvis.angelac...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
When returning to a parent folder, more than one folder is selected

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
A folder with 3 folders (a,b,c) and different kind of files (/home/1/)
(actually it is inside a windows partition, inside "my documents" folder)
The current view is Detailed view mode, with preview icons enabled
Open one of the folders (/home/1/a/), an empty folder
Return one level using "Go back" button on dolphin, backspace or equivalent
mouse button
Once dolphin shows the original folder (/home/1/), all three folders are
selected, but not once in the process those folders were selected
if I open b, a folder with files and folders, upon return to '1' via the
previous explained methods only b and c are selected

Killing the dolphin process and reopening the affected folder still reproduces
the behavior
The affected folder was used recently, files copied to and from.
I could not reproduce the behavior in other folders in the same drive

EXPECTED RESULT
Upon returning to a parent folder only the child folder should be selected

SOFTWARE VERSIONS
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.13.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.50.0
Qt Version: 5.11.2

I've deleted files without noticing because of that, in a situation where I
wanted to delete just one folder.
Please change the severity according to what fits the bug better, its my first
report here.

  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: discover
  Assignee: aleix...@kde.org
  Reporter: bugsefor...@gmx.com

SUMMARY
I can reproduce only if display scaling facor is 1.2, only flatpaks from
flathub are affected. Weirdly nightly flatpaks from kdeapps repo are not
affected.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. set your display scale to 1.2 in system settings > display and monitor >
"scale display" button. Restart plasma.
2. open discover, click "settings" in the side bar, click "Flathub" repo to
show its packages
3. click some flatpak to open its description, click some screenshot

OBSERVED RESULT
We can see a spinner while the screenshot is loaded. The spinner position
changes as it rotates.
Watch the screencast please.

EXPECTED RESULT
spinner position should not change while it rotates.

It's strange.
It's slow on that machine (a few seconds), and fast on my machine, using the
same project.
It's slow on that machine when a file which is part of a kate project is open
(which contains MANY files), it's fast if e.g. a file in the kate source tree
is open. Will look more into it.

[frameworks-kio] [Bug 399889] XDG Portal for FileChooser shows raw shell globs in "Automatically select extension" text box

2018-10-16 Thread JanKusanagi
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399889

Easily reproducible also with KDialog, like this:

kdialog --getsavefilename "$HOME" "PNG files (*.[Pp]ng)"

if the user enters a file name like "test" in that dialog and presses Enter,
the string returned by KDialog will be:

/home/yourusername/test.[Pp]ng

[Falkon] [Bug 399898] New: Add ability to view frame source

2018-10-16 Thread Turtle
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399898

Bug ID: 399898
Summary: Add ability to view frame source
   Product: Falkon
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: now...@gmail.com
  Reporter: tur...@think-electric.com
  Target Milestone: ---

THIS IS A FEATURE REQUEST:

SUMMARY
It would be nice if Falkon could show me the html source of the curremt heml4
frame.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1.Go to a site that uses html 4.01 frame sets
like https://www.htmlgoodies.com/legacy/tutorials/frames/fr4t3.html
2. Right click on a frame and select view source

OBSERVED RESULT
Sourcecode of the entire page will be displayed.

EXPECTED RESULT
Firefox has a feature that allows a user to "view frame source", it would be
cool if falkon could do the same.

SOFTWARE VERSIONS
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.12
KDE Frameworks Version:
Qt Version: 5.9

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Kernel Linux-4.18.12
Platform x86_64-Intel-R-_Core-TM-_i7-3520M_CPU_@_2.90GHz
libtool:2.4.6-r3
make: 4.2.1-r4
glibc: 2.26-r7
I am running Falkon stand alone without KDE.

COMMENT:
I doubt that across the entire web html 4.01 frame sets will go away any time
soon. It would make it handy for web developers to use Falkon.

[frameworks-baloo] [Bug 399885] New: NTFS mount point appears in excludeFolders list and cannot be removed

2018-10-16 Thread S . Christian Collins
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399885

Bug ID: 399885
Summary: NTFS mount point appears in excludeFolders list and
cannot be removed
   Product: frameworks-baloo
   Version: 5.51.0
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: balooctl
  Assignee: baloo-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: s_chriscoll...@hotmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
I have two NTFS partitions mounted in my home folder via the following lines in
/etc/fstab:
UUID=10156E860DB794A2 /home/chris/Personal ntfs-3g
defaults,auto,noatime,big_writes,uid=1000,gid=1000,umask=022,windows_names,locale=en_US.utf8
0 0
UUID=0F14CDF22D70C77E /home/chris/Storage ntfs-3g
defaults,auto,noatime,big_writes,uid=1000,gid=1000,umask=022,windows_names,locale=en_US.utf8
0 0

Both of these locations appear in "System Settings" -> "Search" -> "File
Search" -> "Do not search in these locations". If I remove the folders from the
list then close and restart System Settings, they are back in the list.

~/.config/baloofilerc contains no reference to either folder (there is no
"exclude folders[$e]=" line) and ~/.config/baloorc doesn't exist.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. I assume that meeting conditions similar to the above description will cause
the issue for others as well, but I don't have a similar setup on any other PC
to test this with.

OBSERVED RESULT
NTFS mount points appear in excludeFolders and can't be removed.

EXPECTED RESULT
NTFS folders are indexed.

SOFTWARE VERSIONS
KDE Plasma Version: 5.14.0
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.51.0
Qt Version: 5.11.1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
If I try to remove one of the folders using "balooctl config remove
excludeFolders '/home/chris/Personal'", two things happen:
1. "baloorc" is created containing "exclude folders[$e]=$HOME/Storage" under
"[General]"
2. "baloofilerc" is updated adding "exclude folders[$e]=$HOME/Storage" under
"[General]"

Running "balooctl config list excludeFolders" now shows:
/home/chris/Personal
/home/chris/Storage
/home/chris/Storage

If I run "balooctl config remove excludeFolders '/home/chris/Personal'" a
second time, both "baloorc" and "baloofilerc" now show "exclude
folders[$e]=$HOME/Storage,$HOME/Storage"

Running "balooctl config list excludeFolders" now shows:
/home/chris/Personal
/home/chris/Storage
/home/chris/Storage
/home/chris/Storage

If I now run "balooctl config remove excludeFolders '/home/chris/Storage'",
both "baloorc" and "baloofilerc" now show "exclude folders[$e]=$HOME/Personal"

For the record, executing this on a Qt-based program under Plasma:

QFileDialog::getSaveFileName(this, "TEST", "", "TEST files (*.[pP]ng
*.blah);;ALL (*)");

shows that same uglyness. Not sure if that "wildcard syntax" is/should be
supported, but it certainly displays badly in the "Automatically select
filename extension" message in those dialogs

The terminal widget in Kate is provided by konsole kpart, so the shortcut
conflicts you see here are between the ones defined in katepart and the ones
konsole part.

Ctrl+Shift+V:
kate, switch to next input mode
konsole, paste

Shift+Ins:
kate: paste
konsole: paste

FTR, Konsole kpart doesn't support changing the default konosle shortcuts.

I can reproduce the crash not only with picking a color from the toolbar popup,
but also from advanced color selector and the palette docker.

When I select colors only in the artistic selector, I can close and open files
without a crash. However, when the artistic selector updates with a color from
outside, it starts crashing upon repaint.

   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

Screenshot of current behaviour

SUMMARY
When a file filter is attached to a file save dialog over the
xdg-desktop-portal interface, it looks awful (`.[pP][nN][gG]` for PNG images,
in particular).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Get a Firefox Nightly build with xdg-desktop-portal support, 2018-10-16 or
later. Make sure you run it with `GTK_USE_PORTAL=1` to force it to use the
portal interface.
2. Navigate to a PNG image.
3. Right-click, "Save image as"

OBSERVED RESULT
See attached screenshot.

EXPECTED RESULT
"Automatically select filename extension (.png)"
