I just called Holiday Inn to book my room. Out of 45 rooms they had blocked off for us, there are only 4 rooms left and these are smoking rooms. I passed on these so if you are planning on booking at the Holiday Inn and want the $68 group rate and do not mind a stinky room, you better hurry up and book it. I am willing to pay the extra for a pleasant atmosphere. Online pre-purchase non-cancelable non-smoking room is $70 per night or $76 for the option to be able to cancel with no charges. KR> FYI from EAA
I did look into it as well. The bill has already been withdrawn but had been proposed by Rep. Weiner (D-NY). I wrote my congressman and Rep. Weiner trying to explain why a bill like this would be unacceptable and asking that for future reference that he check with EAA or AOPA or any pilot in the House or Senate before proposing any future legislation. May I ask all of you to do the same. People like Rep. Weiner aren't evil, just completely clueless. It is up to us to help them become informed. Thanks. KR> FYI from EAA
Senator, Please strongly oppose a newly introduced bill by Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) Bill (H.R. 5035) would require the Department of Homeland Security to create a method of screening all passengers and property on each flight of all passenger aircraft in the U.S., including general aviation aircraft of all types. It would also prohibit any non-airline aircraft from flying within 1,500 feet of any structure or building, and prohibit non-airline aircraft from flying over any U.S. city with a population of 1 million or more. It would further require that pilots of all aircraft in U.S. airspace remain in contact with the Federal Aviation Administration, presumably by radio, regardless of altitude or location. I am a GA pilot and believe this is un-nesessary, over-reactive and be very expensive, in the name of Home Land Security. We GA pilots are reponsible and follow the FAR's. We can do our own policing, and we do. Sincerely, Ron Eason 714KZ

Unfortunately it seems to be true. Go to EAA's webpage and check out the news from last week. EAA sent a newscast by e-mail last week announcing that this highly insane and populistic proposal was announced on the Senate's floor. I guess it is up to us to take as much action as possible to work against it. It's true, I got the info through an EAA Chapter Gram. This guy has NO clue what GA is all about. You can get more info at http://www.eaa.org. To counter this bill (H.R. 5035) contact your congressional representative (info at http://www.house.gov), tell them that you are a constituent and that you want them to oppose H.R. 5035. I know this is off subject but I just thought some of you would like to cash in on Harbor Freight Tools big sale going on right now. I went to the local store today to get an inductive timing light with advance and found it to be on sale for $22 and much more stuff was at more than 50% off. I am not going to say how much I wound up spending because if my wife happens to see this e-mail and saw what I spent..well she would be pi$$ed. The good part is a lot of it will be used to finish building the KR. OK guys, here is another secrete of mine. Ever wonder where a lot of those tools you see on eBay for sale come from. Now I am talking brand new, not used. Well I have bought tools from these folks at some extremely low prices. For example..3/8" electric drill at $6.00. HVLP spray gun $13.00 and a lot more. So far there has not been one product I have been disappointed with. I used the HVLP to spray a boat trailer last weeksweet. Yeah, Harbor Freight is great! It's filled with things that you never knew you wanted, but can't possibly live without! Have a new store that opened near me in Flint. The place did record business everyday it was open for the first month! What poor economy? Went by there over the weekend. The place had a line on both perimeters all the way to the back of the store! ROBERT COOPER wrote:I went to Harbor Freight a few days ago to get some large diamoter drill bitts.
