RE: [LegacyUG] New V. 7
And what about discount prices for users that don't have a printer connected to their computer? Or even those that may be using an older 13" CRT instead of a 22" wide screen flat panel monitor. Wait a minute...some users are on a 56K dial-up so they should receive a discount over those on broadband. Or how about "My ISP sucks so I should receive a discount." Or how about a discount for Mac users running a Windows emulator? I can see it now: Millenia has to come out with a dozen different versions of Legacy. Nope, sorry. This is an idea that needs to die a quick death. RE: [LegacyUG] New V. 7
ROFL have u even tried Vista? I have vista 64 with 8gb. This is simply the best OS MS have ever made. It is more stable than windows 2000 even was and makes XP look like rubbish. You need to remember XP was an enormous memory hog in its time. The majority of people use XP with 2GB ram. Before XP 256 MB was considered a lot of ram so XP increased ram usage by 8 times and vista maybe double for most people and vista is the memory hog, go figure. IE7 is a standard part of windows as far as MS is concerned and a developer has every right to develop for it. IE7 may not have been part of your OS originally but it is a recommeded part of it today. SP1 and SP2 were not part of XP initially and SP3 includes IE7 I believe. Since the mapping program uses virtual earth, which is a MS program, guess what - it requires IE7. The point is you are complaining to Legacy when the issue is not theirs. They are doing the right thing and developing on the recommended platform. The issue is with the software you are using. You should be complaining to the communications software people, not Legacy.Further, Legacy do not require that you use IE7 as your browser, simply that it is installed on your computer. This is the newest genealogy software out there and they are using the latest software, naughty them, and you are complaining that they didnt develop the program for what is now a dead OS. Silly them, where is there forward plannning. > Date: Thu, 5 Jun 2008 22:41:30 -0500> From: [EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: > LegacyUserGroup@legacyfamilytree.com> Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] New V. 7> > IE > 7 was never part of my OS (XP Media Manager) and cannot use it as > other > programs I use for a daily at home job require IE 6 ONLY, so IE 7 > is not an > option. Now there is a new idea.. a la cart pricing depending on which special features you want! Sounds like you using some old versions of communications tools. Why don't you contact the mfg and tell him that IE7 came out in Oct 2006 and find out when they will support the current shipping IE Browser for XP and Vista? Re: [LegacyUG] New V. 7
Have you entered your Deluxe Customer Number? You won't get mapping until you do. You can get to the maps through the icon on the toolbar - if it isn't there - customise the toolbar by right clicking on an empty spot and then following the directions. This takes you to the map for the highlighted individual. Or go to the Master Location List and check the Show Maps checkbox. Remember you need to have IE7. RE: [LegacyUG] New V. 7
Shelly, Please try to customize the toolbar: Right-click on the main toolbar at the top of the Legacy screen. The customize Main Toolbar screen appears. To add the new Mapping tool to the toolbar, drag it from the Available Toolbar Buttons box and drop it on the Main Toolbar (Main) at the position you want to place it. As you drag the Mapping tool over the Main Toolbar (Main), a vertical line will appear to indicate where it will be inserted. Any tools to the right will move over to make room. Click OK when you are finished. Please let me know how it goes.
