Well, I meant Locations -- but that got me where I wanted to go. Thanks!

Can someone tell me how to go directly to an address edit screen?

View>Master ListsRepository.

I am presuming you do mean Addresses and not Locations. Just wanted to
clarify because many people, myself included, enter full addresses in
the Location/Place field.

Re: [LegacyUG] Editing addresses

2018-08-09 Thread Brian Kelly

View > Master Lists > Address Lists
Note that there are three kinds of Addresses; Mailing Event and Repository
Make sure you are in the correct kind of address because editing an
Event Address will NOT change the same address if it is also used as a
Mailing address.

You can select an address in the list then click the Edit button. As
always when editing a Master List the changes you make will apply to all
the places where the address is used.

[LegacyUG] Editing addresses

2018-08-09 Thread Pat Hickin
I have a whole bunch (100s) of addresses that I want to edit but can't seem
to get to an edit screen except from an individual's edit screen.

Can someone tell me how to go directly to an address edit screen?

Thanks!

Re: [LegacyUG] Self

2018-08-09 Thread Cathy Pinner

Rita,
Who do you want to set relationships to? That person gets the label "self."

If you want relationships outlined for both your family and your
husband's family then you need to set relationships to a child. If you
and your husband don't have a child you can enter a child and make them
invisible but still set relationships to them. Then they'll be "self"
and you'll be mother.

If you don't want to have any relationship labels you go to Tools - Set
Relationships and click Clear Relationships.

Re: [LegacyUG] New problem

2018-08-09 Thread Jean Gobel
Cathy, both files are listed under the big L, Title bar – is that what it is
called – showed Watson, but the individual listed were from the Reid family.
No one is in both families. Customise 1.3 showed last viewed family, and I
have had it that way forever, but I just changed it to preferred start up
family. Whatever that did, it shook something loose, and I can change families
once again. Disaster averted. Thank you.

Do you have some of the same people in both files? What do you have set for the
Options - Customise 1.3 that controls who the file opens on. Depending on that
if this person is in both files, it could open on them in both.
What file name is in the Title bar - change person or view first as sometimes
this doesn't update immediately on changing file.
Are both files in the Recent File List under the Big L? If not, you've lost the
list since the last time you opened one of the files and you'll need to use
File - Open File to open it again.

I have just finished working on my Reid family file. Clicked on the
big L

to open the Watson family fail. I have separate family files. The name

Watson comes to the top, but the individual remain Reid. I have run file

maintenance several times, with no result, I have tried to closed the
Reid

database, with no result, and open the Watson database with no
result. What

happened?
