Re: [LegacyUG] Julian Calendar in Quaker Records
Until 1752, the calendar year began on March 25th, not January 1st. In 1622, the third month was May, so the 14th of May. Re: [LegacyUG] Julian Calendar in Quaker Records
OLD STYLE & NEW STYLE DATES FOR THE QUAKER CALENDAR You are probably familiar with the change from the Julian to the Gregorian calendar in 1752/53. Because of the Quaker custom of not using standard names for months there is some modern confusion when refering to pre-1752 Quaker records. The following table should be of assistance. OLD STYLE NEW STYLE (Before 1753 the QUAKER(After Jan 1, 1753) year began in March) March (before 1753)1st MonthJanuary (after 1753) April 2nd MonthFebruary May3rd MonthMarch June 4th MonthApril July 5th MonthMay August 6th MonthJune September 7th MonthJuly October8th MonthAugust November 9th MonthSeptember December 10th MonthOctober January 11th MonthNovember February 12th MonthDecember On Fri, May 5, 2017 at 4:43 PM, Joyce Herzog wrote: > I've got a lot of Quakers in the 17th century. [LegacyUG] Julian Calendar in Quaker Records
I've got a lot of Quakers in the 17th century. They use the month number. Does anyone know the Juliam date translated from Quaker: 14 of Third Month 1622? I tried to find it on Family search, but couldn't find it.
