AFAIK we haven't encountered this bug with version 4.0 (4.1 isn't ready for
company use yet).
The bug occurs very rarely, but -given the data loss- it is a bad one.

My guess is that it is connected to certain (long existing) files. With two
files it has occurred multiple times, with hundreds of other files is has never
occurred (and these files all have the same base file from which they
originate, first an xls-file, now an ods file).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 67617] FILEOPEN RTF with .doc extension causes error

2013-08-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67617

I'm afraid that the fix for bug 64448 made more new problems than solved.

I would suggest to change that fix not to drop the data from "incorrect
filter", but instead to notify user that it is not a filetype that is expected;
that the program supposes that this is some other file type; and suggest to try
that guessed filter.

So, from the end-user perspective, there should be these cases when a file os
opening:
1. File is detected unambiguously: simply open it.
1.1. An error happens while loading: instead of uninformative "i/o error",
provide a more verbose information with a suggestion that this file is of some
other (unrecognized) type. It would be simply awesome if it then would provide
an option to send it for analisys, or use some (online) utility to detect etc.,
but it is a separate feature request.
2. File is detected as one type, but some filter claims that it is its type:
try the main filter, catch general i/o error, provide a warning and a choice to
try other detected filters.

Without this, this is a real problem for quite a number of users that receive
such files from others/from some (badly designed) programs. And this is the
regression from the UX perspective!

Detail: current implementation needs an existing value cell as variable cell
that can be changed and the change broadcasted to recalculate the dependent
formula cell(s). Probably that value cell needs to be temporarily added to the
document if it doesn't exist. Needs to be checked though if doing so would
interfere with ChangeTracking or cell protection or have other unwanted side
effects.

Header/Footer: fixed the selection of frames anchored to header/footer

Now, double-click actually selects a frame anchored in header/footer.
Code has been cleaned a bit as well.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 68032] New: Landscape printing prints as portrait with content turned at 90 degree

2013-08-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=68032

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 68032
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Landscape printing prints as portrait with content
turned at 90 degree
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: b7.10110...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.4.2 release
 Component: Printing and PDF export
   Product: LibreOffice

This bug is very similar to bug 55085 which appears to be abandoned. The
difference is that I reproduce it on Linux, not MacOS.
So, here're steps to reproduce:
1. Start Writer
2. Format-Page-Landscape-OK
3. Type "test" or anything else
4. Ctrl+P, OK
5. Take the page out of the printer and see that instead of normal landscape
printout you get a turned & cropped version, i.e. landscape data on portrait
printout.

I've tested LibO 3.5-4.1, and bug reproduces in all versions.
Workaround is similar to that mentioned in bug 55085 - export to PDF and print
from PDF viewer, which then works OK.

I'm using AcuLaser C1100 and CUPS 1.5.0.

Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: pi...@gmx.de

Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.2.2 release
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

If you create a writer document and put an EPS as background image, then Writer
is nearly unusable. It only accepts user inputs every 5 or 10 seconds and CPU
usage is 100 % on one core.

Seems like it always tries to render the EPS new with every character you type.
Mine is a pretty large EPS but the same EPS worked seamless in previous
versions of Libre Office. Something must have changed...

Thanks for fixing!
Andreas

I ran into this myself recently while doing some testing with LO 4.x, and have

any LO 4.x). Also built against 3.6.7 (to verify compatibility back to 2.6),
though obviously it's not needed in the LO 3.x versions.

However as mentioned in comment #13 this bug could be reproduced in LibreOffice

I have the same problem. When my keyboard layout is in a non-English language
(in my case Fa) most shortcuts don't work (e.g. Ctrl+C, Ctrl+S, customized LO‌

My system: Linux Mint Debian Edition Update Pack 6, XFCE 4.8, LibreOffice
3.5.4.2, both libreoffice-gnome and libreoffice-gtk packages installed.

(In reply to comment #5)

Also in my case, as AshkanV mentioned in comment #5, many other applications
work just fine. I'm in XFCE but I also have Gnome, KDE and Mate installed. And
text editors of all of these DEs work correctly.

Can't reproduce with LO 4.0.4.2 and 4.1.0.4, both on Ubuntu 13.04 (64-bit).
Both documents look correct here. Maybe you should add some step-by-step
instructions on how to reproduce the buggy behavior. (Please change the bug
status to UNCONFIRMED when you done.)

As you confirmed that you can't reproduce the bug with 4.1 anymore, I suspect
that the cause of the bug is the ICU library, which is known to be very slow
and CPU consuming (and buggy). As of 4.1 LO switched to Harfbuzz instead (see
Release notes).

Classification: Unclassified

Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED

Problem description: Cropping a picture sometimes gives a image that is
stretched.

Steps to reproduce:
1. select an image that has been inserted into a Writer document
2. right click to bring up the context menu
3. press (Picture)
4. Press to bring up the tabbed dialog choose "Crop"
Ascertain that the "Keep Scale" radio button is activated
In rather rapid succession (or on a slow computer):
5. Press (Top)
6. Enter "1.8 "
7. Press (this should be accomplished before the default units have
been input by the application)

Consider the attached test case.

The second and third columns of rows August Secundo & Tertio are of type void.
Their body ( child) is displayed anyway. According to my understanding,
it should not be displayed.

Consider attachment 83968

In the first three rows, the body is always displayed (in these cases,
the office:value attributes properly overrides the child text:p),
but it is always *treated* in some way. In particular,
tags are treated. See that variables (foo|bar)Apr(Pri|Sec) as well as
(foo|bar)AugPri are set, and displayed in the page footer:
 f41-b41,f42-b42,f81-b81

On the other hand, for cells with office:value-type="string"
(rows August Secundo and August Tertio), as soon as there is
an office:string-value (that is, the second column), the
in the body are not evaluated; the variables
fooAug(Sec|Ter) stay at "0". This is what causes bug 67930. In the
absence of an office:string-value, however, the body is displayed
and executed, and the barAug(Sec|Ter) variables do get set.

It should be coherent, and *always* evaluate within
each body.

Before a dialog can be used it's library needs to be loaded that means that
most of the time DialogLibraries.LoadLibrary( "Standard" ) is needed. And if
you provide that line of code then you should not get the error you are
referring to.

I did a test with LibreOffice 4.0.4 (Windows 7) and LibreOffice 3.5.7 (Ubuntu)
and added a dialog to Standard in My Macros on my computer. I hooked it up to
the image in your document, restarted my LibreOffice instance so the Standard
library of My Macros gets unloaded. When I reopen the document and click the
image I get a LibraryNotLoadedException, as expected and just as I get if the
dialog is in the document.

Everything in your bug description is expected behavior (maybe not that obvious
though). The reason that it works the second time is that the Basic IDE loads
the dialog library when it opens the basic code to show you the offending line.

You could possibly argue that the function CreateUnoDialog should be extended
to load the dialog library before it tries to execute it. I do not know what
impact that might have on performance etc.

Please feel free to file an enhancement request to extend CreateUnoDialog if
you feel strongly about it.

I think I have all the ingredients to make this work for OOXML documents. The
plan is to support the encryption format used in Office 2007 and maybe switch
to "agile" encryption info format used in 2010 and 2013 once it also works for
importing of this files. Generally for exporting/saving it shouldn't matter
which format is used as all Office 2007, 2010 and 2013 should support all
encryption info formats.

First version for testing the encryption should be available very soon.

A sample document that I created, in ODF, to test the Find-and-Replace
behavior. I noticed the same bad behavior.

Problem description:

The find-and-replace function is totally broken. When I specify a small search
key of one or two characters, it "finds" half the document at random, and most
of the time the matches are NOT valid. Replacement makes hash of the document.

When I specify a long search key, it won't find it at all--even when I know
it's present.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open or create a document in Writer.
2. Click "Find" or "Find and Replace"
3. Specify a search key and, where applicable, a replacement.
4. Ask it to find (or replace) the search key.

Current behavior:
For small search keys, it "finds" everything, 99 percent plus of which is NOT a
match.

For larger search keys (typically multi-word phrases): it doesn't find it at
all, even when I can see that it is present.

Expected behavior:

Trying to open this file pegs the CPU and then potentially crashes. Excel 2007

Text with "broken" footnote

Whenever I use spacing between characters, the text runs into the right margin,
as if the space were not considered for line breaking. I cannot remember having
this problem prior to 4.1. (AOO 4.0 does not have this bug, as far as I can
see.)

I attach a document where the footnote is "hit".

OSX 10.8.4, if that is relevant.
