As the help says, this option "Keeps the selected object within the layout boundaries of the text that the object is anchored to. To place the selected object anywhere in your document, do not select this option." This option is particularly useful when text wraps around pictures that to not take the full text area width. Libreoffice 5.2.0.4 I have .odt & .otg on a local server who's address is 192.168.1.8 When attempting to open them (via Nemo), Libreoffice asks for credentials, I fill them in. Press 'OK', then I get a dialog box saying: "The host name 192.168.1.8 could not be resolved." - And that's that no file opened. Going into more detail, I get the same error attempting to open files using FTP via: - Bash (`libreoffice5.2 ftp://username@192.168.1.8/path.odg`) - Libreoffice's Open Remote File Dialog - Libreoffice's Open File Dialog - Nemo (File Browser) So out of all the ways to get to the file, all of them fail the same way. Now here's the kicker: if I use SFTP or SSH, it works perfectly fine. So this is obviously a FTP-only issue. Also allow me to add that this same FTP connection works fine with all other services requiring it: so it is certainly not an issue with the server or client computers, it is only libreoffice having issues with it. Insert a 5x5 table and enter some dummy content. Mark whole table and set "vertical align" for the cells via table toolbar. Save. LibreOffice writes a element of family "table-cell" as child of in content.xml. It has an element with attribute draw:textarea-vertical-align="middle". Using namespace loext prevents the validation error; is not allowed in case style:famile="table-cell". But it is a wrong approach to try to use "graphic-properties" at all. This bug (now solved it seems, but sort of - see below) particularly effects
legal documents where marginalia are used for per paragraph numbering.

This bug #62071, in its technically specific description, appears to have been
solved - for example try opening the .odt attachment to the bug listed just
above and go the end of one of the paragraphs, and press delete - the
subsequent frame is deleted, AND the following paragraph is joined onto the
current paragraph.
However, the way this works I think ought to change, to keep the improvement of
the LO implementation, but to also include the improvement from the MSWord
implementation:
In WordXP, when at the end of a para and where the "next" para is actually the
marginalia ("legal para numbering") for the subsequent para, pressing
does nothing! That's bad. The current (at least LO5.2) LO implementation is
definitely more functional, and thus better - delete does something quite
useful!
HOWEVER, in WordXP, when I am at the end of a para and where the "next" para is
actually the marginalia ("legal para numbering") for the subsequent para,
pressing moves the cursor to the beginning of the marginalia para (the
para in the "marginalia frame") - again, see the attachments to #101753!
- then going to the end of the marginalia (framed) para, then press
again, and the cursor ends up at the beginning of the subsequent paragraph.
My experience in WordXP includes the creation, editing, modifying and
manipulating via macros, the sum total of over 10,000 of these "marginalia"
paragraphs, and the ability to use cursor movement, and having WordXP treat
these marginalia paras as "just normal paras" is a huge editing and efficiency
win!
WordXP allows me to do a lot of things in macros, from fine tuning the
refernces in the marginalia, both content and style, whilst jumping back and
forth between the marginalia para and the subsequent or any other related para
(with the marginalia para being a "ref" or "numbered reference" to its
associated subsequent para).
This is very common in legal documents. My (volunteer) job at the moment is to
convert 10,000 of these marginalia paras into LibreOffice, and learn
LibreOffice while I'm at it.
When I look at the XML of the LO document, the marginalia paras (at least, so
far as they are imported from a .doc 2003 document) are sequenced in between
the other paras - so the logical text flow exists, what is needed is really
only the final UI tweak of allowing RIGHT and LEFT arrow to --include-- the
marginalia (framed) paras.
Basically, when a framed (marginalia) para is anchored to another para, it
should be considered to be in sequence logically immediately prior to the para
to which it is anchored.
The question becomes what to do in cursor movement and text logical sequencing,
when framed text paras are anchored to char, page or some other object:
>From a macro developer perspective (aka end user solving various difficult
problems perspective), the options should be made available in the
gui/menus/etc, so that any particular macro (or normal editing) can choose to
include and disclude various types of framed text, including anchored-to-para
"marginalia", as needed. We should not limit what the end user can accomplish.

I hope this is a correct "mockup" - it uses frame style ("zenaanFrame") to do
the job, which is the built in, if recent (to LO) functionality to get this
type of text document layout working properly.
I say this because when I hear the term "mockup" I think "totally fake Gimp
image" or something :)
It would be amusing to say the least, if a working LO writer file were not
sufficient :D

The transform should probably create a frame style in LO which has the same name as the corresponding para style in MSWord. That would be logical of course. As you can see, this .odt file looks very similar to the correct / successful (Word pdf print) output/ pdf print file. So, we can see that the LO frames engines can correctly support this marginalia style. As the attached files show, the per-paragraph paragraphs ("marginalia") show at
the top of each page, rather than to the correct margin placement side (left or
right (mirrored margins)), beside each each respective paragraph.
Libreoffice frame styles are capable of correct placement (I've tested this,
can supply an example test file if needed - LO marginalia examples are also
available on the web).
Only one attachment allowed, so I'll attach the respective PDF "prints"
separately.
Please note: the input file (.doc/ WordXP/ Word 2002) page size is custom (13cm
x 21cm) and the PDF print on Debian does not preserve this, and provides (on my
XFCE4 desktop) no option to set correct paper size - this used to work, but no
longer; I shall file a separate bug report somewhere about this.
