Date: Mon, 06 Mar 2000 15:43:13 -0600 From: Brice Ruth <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Just a quick note: the US Robotics (3com) Sportster internal PCI modems work just fine under Linux. I had to use 'setserial' to set the line discipline (it shows up as a 'Serial Controller' in /proc/pci) - but no problems thereafter. Just make sure ya don't get a WinModem. The USR models #5610, #5611, #5612 and #5613 are *not* winmodems. Most if not all of the other USR modems are winmodems, though. Be careful befure you purchase a PCI modem. USR is pretty careful about listing Windows as a requirement on the outside of the box. - Ted - To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe linux-serial" in the body of a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Do somone on this lists knows what kind of modem (Winmodem or not) is in a Compaq1247? I have no access at it at all. I must configure it by e-mail! :) Thanks! --- Catalin(ux) BOIE [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www2.deuroconsult.ro/~catab A new Linux distribution: http://l13plus.deuroconsult.ro Fax: (561) 760-6212 - To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe linux-serial" in the body of a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: PCI Internal Modems
I managed to set up an Askey 56K PnP (not listed, either) modem by the simple expedient of using minicom. It works fine. Juan In a message dated 6 Mar 2000, at 22:45, Sarel J. Re: PCI Internal Modems
IMHO 99% of the PCI modems are softmodems (aka WinModems). Are you sure about your ?
