[libreoffice-marketing] Reminder re: use of LibreOffice and LibO

2011-02-15 Thread Marc Paré
This is just a reminder (Italo correct me if I am wrong). We had agreed
that we would, for now, market the "LibreOffice" and NOT make use of
"LibO" in our marketing materials. Italo suggested that we could, if we
wanted to, make use of LibO on staff manning the booths and maybe raffle
off LibO shirts as "rare" T-shirts.

We want people to remember the "LibreOffice" brand before going on to
any "shorter-catchy" name.

Cheers

Marc

These two articles make me think that if this type of negative

2011-02-15 Thread Paulo José
Well, actually it's not a skin or something like that, but just images
made in Inkscape.

I think to make it installable, first we need change the way of
LibreOffice draws the screen (maybe including some libs like Cairo or
something else) to make possible a lot of new things visually. And for
sure it would take much more time to debug and polish the code, testing
in many systems... At last, I think (*think*) it's not possible make it
right now.

My though now it's LibreOffice need many changes and corrections in
another areas before we can do something like to renew completely the
user interface. Maybe when Citrus project is in a advanced level, I can
join myself and help with some design ideas. :)

Thank you for your interest! :D

Well, these "wallpapers" are just tests rendered in a bigger resolution
[asked by Leif] and their textures have poor quality. Actually, the
resolution of textures (512px) is not enough to the 1024x768 format, so
you can see the aliasing effect in the center picture (look to green
highlights in the hills). Also maybe some text may be good too to keep
the context of these images. I'll try to do something better today and
present to you. :)

Thanks a lot for the great artwork!

I'm happy with the commentaries from you all. :) Thank you!

And thank you for all the people involved in the Mimetype icons
creation, because my only work was to put this great artwork in 3D
format. :)

Best Regards,
~Paulo

Re: [libreoffice-marketing] Re: Great artwork

2011-02-15 Thread Paulo José

Hi all,

Good to see your interest on my 3D stuff! Thanks for the nice comments!
About to make generic wallpapers to press kit, it would be an actual
pleasure. Although, today I resume my university research and my
vacations will end in a week, so I'll have really few time and I'll need
time enough to complete the wallpapers. When do you think a deadline
could be dated?

Can you two - and who would like to join - help me with some ideas?

Cheers,
~Paulo

[libreoffice-marketing] two articles about the decline of OOo and the rise of LibreOffice

2011-02-15 Thread webmaster for Kracked Press Productions

The following two articles are about OOo and LibreOffice.
Mostly, to me, how OOo is loosing its user base to LO and
that OOo is loosing ground with the features that LO now
includes in its 3.3 version over OOo's 3.3 version.

These two articles make me think that if this type of negative
"press" keeps up, Oracle will soon dump OOo as a useless
product line.

Actually the main language selector is above Italo's clippings. I am not sure
we can add to Italo's ones. See the 2 letter language codes at the top of the

Hi,

Oh yeah - I saw the table with Italo's clippings in different languages
and then didn't think to click on the actual language pages...duh!

Hi :)

Please could you add those links to the appropriate pages within the
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/LibreOffice_In_The_Press
section of the website? I think Japanese might need a new page but the other
pages exist already.

Please don't worry about duplicating effort. Any searches for articles are
very
likely to reveal articles that have not been listed and it is easy to check the
results against the page anyway. Feel free to add articles.

Hi,

Not sure if this is duplicating existing efforts.

Looked at the press clipping page on the wiki and thought maybe not:

Looking over my tweets from the last few weeks I pulled these:

Japanese
http://journal.mycom.co.jp/news/2011/02/04/079/

Swedish
http://www.idg.se/2.1085/1.366913/rappare-upplevelse-i-nyslappt-ubuntu-alfa

Czech
http://www.abclinuxu.cz/poradna/linux/show/326974

Now those are not in-depth articles, so not sure they should be listed,
but perhaps at least noted somewhere.

I'll dive into that tweet stream a little further this afternoon as I
remember a few Polish, a few more Japanese, at least 1 Lithuanian and I
think a 2 Chinese (and others) articles that I pointed to.

Thanks

Drew

The "LibreOffice in the Press"[1] page has been re-formatted and the NL

Neat! These are really nice. It would be nice to have such wallpaper for
all the applications in LibreOffice suite for conferences where 6
computers were set to show the applications to booth visitors.
LibreOffice should also show somewhere also.

Great and impressive artwork!

Re: [libreoffice-marketing] Re: I want your face on video :-)

2011-02-15 Thread Tom Davies
Hi it seemed fine on my Ubuntu but i always have the gamma turned up all the
time on this machine because so many movies have dark night-scenes and my
monitors are bad here.

The translation into English was good quality. My initial reason for asking
for
srt subtitles rather than embedded ones was to make it easier to tweak the
translation. I thought that translating in one direction is difficult enough
but translating the other way is much more difficult.

Still, it is good to have the subtitles as srt (or similar) to make it easy for
people to translate into other languages if required.
Many regards from
Tom :)

Hi Paulo

I played it on 2 players on my Mandriva box. The video seems too dark
(not enough light) on both players. The translation came through really
well.
