Ditch it. I stopped using bitly when Twitter introduced t.co which was
a long time ago. There is no need to use them unless you want to
collect statistical data as someone has already mentioned. But Twitter
provides basic statistics nowadays as well.

How do I make a correction?

2015-11-11 Thread Sudhir Khanger
Hi,

In the second paragraph of my article "What’s New in Fedora 23 KDE Plasma
Desktop Spin" [1] I wrote "Notable changes in KDE Applications 15.08 are
Frameworks 5 based Kontact suite app and file manager Dolphin." The statement
is factually correct but indicates that f23-kde spin includes those changes
which it doesn't. The technical preview of Frameworks 5 based Kontact suite
app didn't make it in f23.

My sincere apologies for making the false assumption. How do I correct it now
that the edit option for me is gone?

We can change it to "Notable changes in KDE Applications 15.08 includes
Frameworks 5 based file manager Dolphin."

Hi, I've noticed this ticket is beginning to age - if you are still
interested in contributing to the Fedora Magazine, I recommend performing
 the following steps:

 1. [http://fedoramagazine.org/logging-into-fedora-magazine-with-fas/ Log
into the Fedora Magazine] and [http://fedoramagazine.org/writing-an-
article-for-the-fedora-magazine/ draft up a pitch] explaining what you
 want to cover.
 2. Email the [https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/marketing
Marketing list] with a link to your pitch and ask for review.
 3. If you are available Thursday evenings at 22:00 UTC, tune in to the
Magazine editorial meetings at #fedora-meeting on freenode.
 4. Once your pitch is approved, you can begin drafting up the full,
complete version of your article for publication.

With that in mind, I vote to close this ticket and move future discussion
about this to the mailing list or IRC in #fedora-mktg. Hoping to see
contributions from you in the near future! :)

Comment (by jflory7):

 Hi all,

Not sure where the status on this is right now. I've noticed it seems SSL
is the default on the Magazine, but WordPress images are not being served
over SSL, which causes browsers to complain about the page being insecure.
Not sure how difficult this is, but as far as I know, this is really the
only blocking element to being 100% SSL-ready for the Magazine?

 Thanks!

Hi Sudhir,

I think since the article was already published, that may have been why
you were unable to edit the article. I added that correction for you
now, so it should be all set!

Re: [commops] Community Blog Python 3 FAD Article

2015-11-11 Thread Justin W. Flory

On 11/11/2015 01:33 AM, Ryan Lerch wrote:

Looking good!

I did a little work to the opening paragraph to try to include a call to
action in the opening paragraph. Wanted to give the reader the call at
the top too just in case they don't read further. I left the call to
action you had at the bottom too -- doesnt hurt to have two :)

Also, added some start times (i guessed these, we will need to check
them) -- and found a plugin that also shows the time in the user's
timezone which seems pretty neat and useful :)

i'm not too worried about cover images on the Community blog, TBH, as we
have the whole posts in the stream rather than the cards like on the
magazine. But if you want a coverimage, i can whip one up.

Also, might need to mess with the blockquote style, as it seems the bg
color for them is the same as the post bodies, and it looks a little werid.

cheers,
ryanlerch

Thanks for the edits, definitely looking more polished now! That time
localization plugin is neat - that will be a nice addition for
CommBlog-specific things to help coordinate times for things like this.
Matt should be able to confirm the times for us - he's still working on
logging into the CommBlog.

For reference, the current times advertised in the post are:
- START: 2015 Nov 14, 13:00 UTC
- END: 2015 Nov 15, 1:00 UTC

That's what I was thinking in the big picture as well, featured images
shouldn't be a blocker for CommBlog posts. I suppose this one will be
fine since we have the badge image embedded in the post, so it does have
an image in there.

Planning on getting that last section worked in the next few hours for
sure so we can be on track for a publish time of 7:00 UTC Thursday.
