Hi, I would like to kindly ask you for one last time to please change the tone of your communications, or find another venue for your inputs. The message quoted below is unduly worded in an inflammatory way and contains a number of personal attacks towards various posters. This kind of discourse is unwelcome on this mailing list. People tend to volunteer on open source projects, because they enjoy positive emotions that contributing to the community brings to them; negativity and pointless fighting spoils all the fun. Thanks! There may be a slight difference between GitHub, hosting opens source projects for free and, BTW, proprietary ones for money, and Transifex, where you can find the free hosting of open source in the small print, if you look long enough. I used to maintain the Hungarian translation for a while, during the transition to Transifex and, honestly, I could not really grasp, what was so difficult with the gettext workflow. - git pull - do some gettext magic - edit hu.po with VIM - make and test - git commit - git push Transifex' statistics are very nice, but editing stuff in a browser, and managing access rights of volunteers was just an added pain in the backside. So I passed it on to named volunteers. I think. But I may be wrong and stuck in the stone age. If it attracted more translators, Transifex was probably the right thing to do. TRY IT FOR FREE I am aware that this may not pertain to projects started before 2013 (when Transifex became all proprietary), but why support a project that now abides by a philosophy alien to that of the Free Software community? At one time I argued that Midnight Commander should use the Free Translation Project at http://translationproject.org. It fell on deaf ears at the time, but let me reiterate that it is very easy to use - just send the new or updated pot-file to the project and translations teams all around the world are autmatically notified via their mailing lists. Team translators send the new or updated translation to the Translation Project's robot and the robot sends out a message to the maintainer that the translation is ready.
