I do agree with whoever suggested that you lube the heck out of it 
before you start moving things around.

My thought was sort of along the lines of, if the part facing you looks 
worn, then move it forward towards you  a hair to make up for the spot 
where it looks a bit worn.

Well it might be but hard to tell.  Seems like the catch on the door 
frame is just pushing the little movable latch part enough to engage it, 
I guess that could be due to wear.

Thanks. It seems to be moving quite freely but I will try some cleaning 
and lube first before I start moving bits around.

The driver door latch on this 99 $600E320 is not grabbing when door is closed. 
If I push the outside just a bit right at the latch it will catch. The 
mechanism moves freely so that works ok. Which part do I need to adjust, very 
very slightly, the latch in the door or the catch on the frame?
