I may be one of the few people who never got booted off the R/E list. I found the veterans list first! I did subscribe briefly to the R/E in 97 or thereabouts, but my mailbox was flooded with email about cars that were way too new from people with way too much money, so I left the list. Re: [MBZ] R/E list disappearances
Don is the man. I went to Pillsbury Baptist Bible College in Owatonna, MN. I could only manage two years. When kids would get kicked out of Pillsbury, they'd usually go to down to the more liberal BJU :o) MB content: To pay for school, I sold my '71 220D to a VP at CAT. I then had to drive from Peoria, IL to Owatonaa, MN in a '73 Mazda Wagon. I detested it. So I wrote a letter to MB in Montvale saying how I was a starving student and I had to sell my pride and joy to go to school and I needed a dependable car (I was shooting for a '79 240D) to drive back and forth. Asked them if they had some kind of program (I said I'd be willing to do commericals...what a dork I was) to help out a poor student. They wrote me back a polite letter felling sorry for me but they couldn't help me out. I wish I still had that letter. I love hitting the dealer in Gump and looking really scruffy. Pick up my part, and then hang out REALLY close to the showroom cars. Get really close so that maybe the buttons on the 501s will scratch the finish. Gets them on their toes and offering you coffee to walk away from the expensive cars. Take a small child in with you and the protective shields really go up. and by the way, I think its insane to have to be approved to sign up for a list and be moderated at first. Its stunts the growth of the list and puts everyone in a state of fear. IF somebody signs up for this list and gets out of line they will be warned or booted, but never had to yet. No reason to do it overthere either. They act like their list is just some sort of holy grail or something. The power play between stu and easley was a nice touch. Zeitgeist wrote: I tried to sign up twice--no reply. Yea, and its the reason MBZ.org started, which in turn is the reason for this list. You see, Sexton, Hursty, myself, then a few other people were banned and sexton started mbz.org. Banned was the first list followed closly thereafter by the rest. That was back in 98 or 99. Jeff Zedic wrote: It's the Ritter/Easley list. Last time we (wife and I) walked into a Benz dealership (Des Moines, to buy a couple of $1 parts) they INSISTED that I sit in a 600-series SL. Sales lady asked what I thought, and I was honest, telling her that my white ass felt really good sitting there in a $140K car. Then I told her that my salary was sub-$30K a year. I hear that. As a graduating senior I was set for a physical and induction into the USAF [avoiding ground duty in Nam] when a gal tried to force-feed a Camero to me. Sudden 4F about 5 different ways, but still not as hazardous as Nam. One son in USAF [diesel mechanic] and a Son-in-law is USCG in San Diego with a welding shop on a Navy base. Re: [MBZ] R/E list disappearances
thats their deal, people will just "dissappear" if they post something that the list owner may not like. ITs quite strange. If you mention rusty there, you can be assured to never post again. yea, they really worry about us overthere. What they worry about is our people sneaking onto their list then trashing it or something. If you mention rusty there, you can be assured to never post again. Actually, my comment was taken in stride and I wasn't messed with. It was a coincidence that others experienced as well.
