when i saw bhp a few weeks ago, they had a copy of the 12" out on the
merchandise table, but were out of it otherwise. i didnt feel like carrying
a 12" around. the girl said it would be out 12/7 i think. it had really
cool
artwork and i think three songs. the show was pretty damn amazing by
the way. just the two of them and simone(from blonde redhead) played
drums on a few songs. very beautiful.
peace.

[MMouse]: bright eyes/new spoon

1999-11-28 Thread b. koski

first off, thanks to everyone who suggested bright eyes. i myself
find them quite interesting and will probably pick up a cd by them
when i have money to blow... it sounded like good depressing yet
poppy-ish music with vocals that brought carla from the geraldine
fibbers/scarnella/ethyl meatplow to mind for some reason.

now, the other topic: has anyone out there heard the new spoon
single that's also out on saddle creek? and does anyone know what's
going on with spoon? 'an american scene' seems to be on a brief
vacation, so i'm falling behind on the news related to them...

[MMouse]: adendum to last post

1999-11-28 Thread Kate M.

Damn you, whoever first mentioned Bright Eyes...I listened to Padraic the
Prince and it made me cry...I had these images of my baby nephew drowning in
a bathtub while no one came to help him.
That was horrible. Damn the musicians, damn them all...they make such pretty
music you can't help but listen to it.

Umn...that's really, *really* sad...
Thanks to you all I think I'm about to drop twenty dollars or so on a couple
new records.
Even though I promised my best friend I'd stop listening to depressing
music...

1999-11-28 Thread adam clay

hi all.

saw something about the new modest mouse in AP. said a lot of the songs
are shorter and (gasp) radio friendly. it came out really dark even though
thats not really what they were shooting for. all of the instrument tracks
are done, so i guess its all vocals then we get record in april. check out
the magazine if you can. had a full page picture and all. later gators

It's from the Bright Eyes song "June on the West Coast". It's actually
my least favorite line on the album - the "they make me pure" thing
sounds a little bit cliche to my over-jaded ears. But, that's the only
line that I think is anything less than stunning on it, so.

My favorite lines from the album:

"...and I scream for the sunlight, or a car to take me anywhere, just
get me past this dead and eternal snow. Cause I swear that I'm dying -
slowly but it's happening."

"I'm still not sure - is there some better place I should be heading
towards? Where the selfishly sick and self-absorbed are welcome..."

"...even practice and parties seem long, but I find myself going - I
guess there's nothing to do."

"...the doctors have gone, and you sweat through the bed, with the
pictures and pills they've piled around yr head..."

yeah i always tense up when i hear the "aa SHIT" in tundra/desert
but there's something about it that ends up leaving me really calm, unlike
"the lonesome crowded west" which makes me wanna hit stuff. i wish i had a
favorite modest mouse song, but i don't. i can never decide what i love
and what i like because there's something that can be found from each song
they write. ok, i'm tired. i am pleased to see tho that i started my own
little thread ;)
