Long-tailed Duck still at Harriet among southeast shore. With the scaup
mentioned yesterday. Right by parking lot at Beard's Plaisance headed north as
of 9:15 AM. Moved 100 yards north as in about 15 minutes. Was south of parking
lot. When I left it was almost adjacent to it.

Re: [mou-net] possible very late Golden-winged Warbler at Hennepin White-eyed Vireo spot

2015-11-05 Thread Jamie McBride
My sighting was fleeting, and the yellow wing patches remain strong in my
memory. There was more yellow on the head too but I don't recall the pattern.
It was enough to make me keep trying to find it, until I saw the WEVI anyway.
If it were may I would have little doubt. It being November??? Had the
white-eyed vireo not revealed itself immediately after this sighting I probably
would have a better description.

[mou-net] Long-tailed duck at Calhoun

2013-12-05 Thread Jamie McBride
After Conny's tip I zipped out and found the duck near the intersection of
Calhoun parkway and Rose Lane. It was with Common and Hooded Mergansers and
some common Goldeneyes. It was between the floating dock and the shore ice.
As I lingered near my car watching it another car came along, lost control
of their car, and hit the back of my car. For a Minneapolis first, maybe,
but a life first... YES! Be careful though. That section of road was very
slippery.

Ross's Goose still present as of 8:45 am Monday at Wirth Golf course just
north of Hwy 55 and South of Bassett's Creek. I used Terence's description
of the location to find it. It was visible from Wirth Parkway. Thanks to
all who posted how to find it.

[mou-net] Redpolls

2012-03-05 Thread Jamie McBride
I saw redpolls on two occasions over the weekend between Lutsen and Tofte
100 yards from HWy 61. The first was a very dark single redpoll sitting at a
feeder with a pne siskin. The next sighting was of a large flock of mostly pale
redpolls, much paler than the one seen the previous day. I haven't done a lot
of winter briding so I am not familiar with Redpoll ID. Any chance this second
group could be Hoary Redpolls?

Thanks,

Jamie
