RE: [newbie] HP Deskjet 712C
You're unlucky. That printer wont work in linux, it is one of those called WinPrinters. You can't even print text. Anyway, it looks like you don't have parrallel port support in the kernel. You should compile your kernel with support for parrallel port, and maybe parport too. However, as I told you before, that printer is not going to work. -Mensaje original- De: _lee _kinkade [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Enviado el: Sábado, 29 de Abril de 2000 02:55 p.m. Para: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Asunto: [newbie] HP Deskjet 712C During setup, I could not get my printer to respond. It is a HP Deskjet 712C. Any suggestions? --- lee If you don't want to know the answer, don't ask the question.

RE: [newbie] Setup Help PLEASE !!!
Try runing that file from DOS, not from Windows. To do that, press F8 at boot and select Normal Command prompt or Safe Command prompt. -Mensaje original-De: Ronald Brown [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]Enviado el: Viernes, 17 de Marzo de 2000 08:50 a.m.Para: Mandrake Newbie HelpAsunto: [newbie] Setup Help PLEASE !!! You shouldn't have any prob, so go on and try it. -Mensaje original- De: Philomena [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Enviado el: Viernes, 17 de Marzo de 2000 12:15 p.m. Para: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Asunto: [newbie] supported hardware Hi, I'm soon buying a new IBM Aptiva - Athlon 800 with tons of RAM and disk. I'll also be getting DSL (adsl, not sdsl). IBM has a network card listed as ADSL, but no name - also, the sound card listed is an Aureal Vortex 2. I don't see the sound card listed in supported hardware and not sure about the ADSL card. Would you anticipate these options might give me problems ? thx, philomena
Re: [newbie] Problem when booting up Linux on my laptop
On Wed, 01 Mar 2000, you wrote: Hello, I've installed Linux Mandrake on my Acer Extensa 502DX laptop and whenever my computer boots up, it crashes whenever it arrives at the Advanged Power Management section of the kernel, I've been able to use a kernel which doesn't have apm selected and it works fine.. Has anybody ever had this problem before? PS; I have enabled Advanced Power management in my BIOS and still same problem. Jero You should compile your own kernel. It has some options about APM that you should enable or disable if your computer crashed at boot time. Octavio Delgado
