[NTG-context] MegaPost, was Re: MetaPost memory

2007-05-23 Thread Andrea Valle

Hi Taco, all,

I've not dedicate so much time, but still my metapost is broken after
the tweaking.

But from the recent BachoTeX 2007 thread I understood (have I
understood?) that MegaPost will probably solve my problems.

When is it scheduled to be released?

Thanks

I tried to track down my problem with texexec calling LilyPond.
In the module it says (at the moment):

...
\def\LP{texmfstart --ifchanged=\lily!filename .tmp --exec
bin:lilypond -b eps -dno-gs-load-fonts -dinclude-eps-fonts \lily!
filename .tmp}
\def\PDF{texmfstart --ifchanged=\lily!filename .eps pstopdf \lily!
filename .eps}

\ifeof18
\writestatus{DEBUG-w18}{\LP}
\installprogram{\LP}%
\doif\jobsuffix{pdf}{%
\installprogram{\PDF}%
}%
\else
...

So I get lots of messages like:
"""
DEBUG-w18   : texmfstart --ifchanged=prd_kanons-lilypond-16.tmp --
exec bin:
lilypond -b eps -dno-gs-load-fonts -dinclude-eps-fonts prd_kanons-
lilypond-16.t
mp
"""

That means, the counter and the definition of \lily!filename are
working.

But the execution of LilyPond (and pstopdf) is postponed, and at that
later time, \lily!filename is always "prd_kanons-lilypond-1" (counter
always 1), resulting in lots of identical messages:
"""
TeXUtil | running texmfstart --ifchanged=prd_kanons-lilypond-1.tmp --
exec bin:lilypond -b eps -dno-gs-load-fonts -dinclude-eps-fonts
prd_kanons-lilypond-1.tmp
"""

So I guess the command or counter or whatever in \installprogram is
expanded at runtime.
I tried \expanded, but it didn't help.

Maybe you have a clue?

[NTG-context] Manual hyphenation

2007-05-23 Thread Elliot Clifton
Hi,

I found that my text, which is set in two columns, looks better with
auto-hyphenation disabled using:

\setupalign[nothyphenated]

There are however several over-hanging words that I will need ConTeXt
to hyphenate. I've searched the mailing list and manual and have found
no information on how to do this. The info I did find was about how to
influence the automatic hyphenation. How do I manually indicate to
ConTeXt that a word should be hyphenation. For example if I wanted to
manually force a page break or column break I would use \page and
\column respectively, but what about hyphenation? At the moment I'm
using:

... document-\crlf ation ...

to manually create a hyphenation. Is there a better way?

TIA,

Elliot

Anyway that helps, I can see that I must have forgotten the height

Hi Elliot,

give us next time a example that make it possible for us to reproduce
your problem, I don't know how your setup is defined.

The following setting give me a topspace and a bottomspace with 2cm,
the values a correct in the output. You can try to replace my
dimensions with yours.

\setuplayout
  [topspace=2cm,
   bottomspace=2cm,
   %header=0cm,
   %footer=0cm,
   height=fit]

I actually failed to find a description for this in

(It might be hidden in TABLE 3.20, p. 123. I'm not good at reading
standards and I'm sure Adobe won't make this feature too obvious.)

I'm not sure if anyone has collected slides at all.

There is a printed version of Proceedings, which will be improved,
published and sent to all DANTE & NTG members at least (so make sure
that you become a member by that time if you're not already :).

The video-camera was on most of the time as well, but I have no idea
when the material is going to be published online.
