I would maybe consider using %exclude in %files section rather than removing files with rm in %install, but this is definitely not a blocker. This should be avoided. Instead of including whole %{geminstdir} in the main package, you should include just the LICENSE file there. * Please consider excluding the cached .gem file - The file has no meaning in Fedora, it is just waste-load. * Test suite - Although the test suite is not embedded in the gem, it is available upstream. It would be nice if you could run it during build time following the guidelines [2] * Please consider updating the package for Ruby 1.9.3 - Since we are in the process of rebuild for Ruby 1.9.3, it would be nice if you can prepare this package according to the new guidelines [1] [1] https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/PackagingDrafts/Ruby [2] https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/PackagingDrafts/Ruby#Test_suite_not_included_in_package -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ package-review mailing list package-review@lists.fedoraproject.org https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/package-review

This is only used with gem pristine command, which is irrelevant for RPM gems, as they should be restored by yum reinstall. * You probably haven't noticed, but we are moving to Ruby 1.9.3 in rawhide, which involves some changes to the gem packaging - see [1] for new guidelines draft. Some information can be found on Ruby-sig fedora mailing list [2] (you should subscribe to that one, if you haven't already). * Currently, we only build new packages for Ruby 1.9.3 in its special target f17-ruby (again, all the info is is [2]). * I suggest you update to the latest version, then we can sort out any leftovers and I can also help you with the new-style packaging. The package looks good, so I think it shouldn't be a problem. Just a question about the name of the package. I happen to have packaged ATpy, (astronomical tables in python), another package by the same developers. In that case I chose to use the project name instead of the tarball name. Would you consider doing the same here for consistency? I remark this is only a suggestion, as the guidelines allow you to use the tarball name or the project name. In any case, please add me as a co maintainer of package once it's reviewed Hi Sergio: You mean APLpy instead of aplpy? Any problem for me, just waiting for the opinion of the reviewer.
